A near field communications (NFC) device is disclosed that interacts with other NFC devices to exchange information and/or the data. Another NFC device inductively couples a received communications signal onto an antenna circuit of the NFC device to provide a recovered communications signal. An overvoltage protection module regulates a power level of the recovered communication signal by detuning the antenna circuit when the power level of the recovered communication signal may cause damage the NFC device. Active components of the overvoltage protection module, such as voltage controlled impedances, operate in their linear mode of operation to reduce unwanted emissions during this regulation process.

Reducing emissions in a near field communications (NFC) capable device

A low power multiple channel receiver mixing architecture for detecting wake-up signals over multiple communication channels in sniff processing performed in an implantable medical device (IMD). The architecture includes a direct conversion real receiver configured to scan a selected center channel and a Weaver receiver configured in parallel to the direct conversion real receiver to simultaneously scan side channels, together simultaneously detecting whether a wake-up signal is being received over the center and side channels with minimal power consumption. The architecture further utilizes a falsing protection algorithm that reduces power consumption during sniff operations by inhibiting the sniffing of channels likely to provide a false indication of a wake-up signal based the presence of unwanted signals on those channels. The falsing protection algorithm restricts those channels from sniff processing likely to provide a false indication of a wake-up signal, such that sniff processing can aborted, prevented, limited or otherwise altered to conserve power consumption.

Low power multiple channel mixing architecture for detecting wake-up signals and related falsing protection algorithm

A mixer arrangement includes a first mixer having at least one signal input for receiving a first signal the frequency of which is to be changed. The mixer arrangement also includes at least one frequency input for receiving an input frequency and at least one output. The first mixer is configured to mix a first signal with an input frequency to provide an output which is output by the at least one output. A second mixer has at least one frequency input for receiving an input frequency and at least one output. At least one output of the first mixer and at least one output of the second mixer are combined to cancel unwanted components from the input frequency in the outputs of the mixers.
