A monosheet black and white substantially light-insensitive thermographic recording material comprising a thermosensitive element and a support, the thermosensitive element containing one or more substantially light-insensitive organic silver salts, one or more reducing agents consisting of one or more 1,2-dihydroxybenzene-compounds in thermal working relationship therewith and a binder, wherein the molar ratio of molar hydroxy-equivalents of the 1,2-dihydroxybenzene compounds to molar silver-equivalents of the substantially light-insensitive organic silver salts is between 1.2 and 6.0; the 1,2-dihydroxybenzene-compounds have a &mdash;(CH&boxH;CH) R group in the 4 position wherein n is zero or an integer and R is a substituent with a Hammett &sgr; constant >0.35 and <0.95 exclusive of a carboxy-group; and the benzene ring of the 1,2-dihydroxy-compounds is optionally further substituted with an entity selected from the group consisting of an alkyl, substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, heteroaryl, alkoxy, thioalkyl, aryloxy, thioaryl, thioheteroaryl, acyloxy, thioacyl, amido, sulphonamido and halogen groups, an annelated aryl ring system and an annelated heteroaryl ring system; and a thermographic recording process therefor.

A screen, comprising a self-supporting or supported phosphor layer with phosphor particles (PP) dispersed in a polymeric binder (B), said phosphor particles (PP) being present in said binder (B) in a volume ratio PP/B of at least 80/20 is provided wherein the polymeric binder comprises at least one polymer (P) having a T.sub.g .ltoreq.0.degree. C., an average molecular weight (MG.sub.avg) between 5000 and 10.sup.7, being soluble in ethylacetate for at least 5% by weight (% wt/wt) and a self-supporting layer of said polymer P comprising 82% by volume of phosphor particles and having a tickhess so has to comprise 100 mg of phosphor particles per cm.sup.2, has an elongation at break of at least 1%. The screen or panel shows low screen structure mottle and a very good compromise between speed and resolution.

A combination is provided comprising a supported or self supporting photostimulable phosphor panel, comprising a photostimulable phosphor layer, the phosphor being capable of storing energy upon irradiation with X-rays and of releasing the stored energy as stimulated emission light upon irradiation with stimulating light and collecting means for stimulated emission light, and showing a restricted angular aperture. The combination comprises a volume reflection hologram H1, situated between the phosphor panel and the light collecting means. The volume reflection hologram H1 reflects stimulated emission light entering the volume reflection hologram under any angle outside a restricted angle, determined by the angular aperture of the collecting means and transmits stimulated emission light entering the volume reflection hologram under the predetermined restricted angle.

A coating composition suitable for forming an adhesive primer layer on a hydrophobic polyester resin support, wherein said coating composition essentially consists of (an) addition polymerizable monomer or mixture of such monomers having dissolved therein at least one of the polymers (i) and/or (ii), wherein: (i) is a linear copolyester of isophthalic acid and at least one other dibasic carboxylic acid with an aliphatic diol, said copolyester being soluble in methyl methacrylate for at least 10 g per 100 ml at 20.degree. X-ray intensifying screens of different speed classes are disclosed, showing a synergistic effect between screen speed or sensitivity and image quality, especially sharpness, if for each speed class the right combination is applied for the amount of dye in the screens and the weight amount and weight coverage of selected mixtures of yttrium tantalate or niobate phosphor and rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide phosphors coated onto selected supports showing well-determined reflectance characteristics.
