An engine control module having an environmentally-sealed housing includes a housing-mounted air pressure sensor for providing a reliable measure of atmospheric air pressure to a control circuit mounted within the housing. The sensor is mounted on an inboard face of the housing, and includes a sensor element, a body portion and a riser portion. The sensor element is mounted in the body portion, and the riser portion protrudes through an opening in the housing to couple the sensor element to atmospheric pressure outside the housing. The body portion is sealingly secured to the inboard face of the housing, and a set of conductor pins molded into the body portion extend inward to engage a circuit board enclosed by the housing, and thereby directly couple the sensor element to the ECM's control circuit. The top of the riser portion is capped by a splash-proof lid to prevent water intrusion.

A dual pressure sensor apparatus configured for attachment to a manifold includes a molded plastic housing with a body portion featuring an upper cavity, a measurement port, and a lower cavity closed by the manifold. First and second pressure sensor modules are mounted in first and second wells formed in the upper cavity, and electrically coupled to a set of leadframe terminals disposed in the upper cavity. An opening in the first well couples the first pressure sensor module to the measurement port, and an opening in the second well couples the second pressure sensor module to the lower cavity. The measurement port sealingly extends through an opening in the manifold so that the first pressure sensor module measures pressure in the manifold, and the body portion walls bounding the lower cavity are notched so that the second pressure sensor module measures atmospheric or barometric pressure outside the manifold.

Dual pressure sensor apparatus

A sensor apparatus includes pressure and temperature sensors for measuring the pressure and temperature of high-pressure fluid media within a vessel. The pressure sensor is disposed in a sensor cavity that is coupled to a measurement port, and the leads of a temperature sensor that is disposed in the measurement port pass through the body of the sensor apparatus to a termination cavity that is physically isolated from the sensor cavity.

An improved self-retaining pressure sensor assembly includes a pressure sensor having a housing, a depending ported stem terminated in an enlarged foot, and a flanged resilient seal disposed about the stem between the pressure sensor housing and foot, with the seal flange having one or more notches about its circumferential periphery to ease insertion and extraction of the assembly with respect to a circular opening formed in a pressure vessel. The notches reduce the effective area of the flange, proportionately decreasing the force (insertion force) needed to insert the assembly at the time of installation and the force (extraction force) needed to subsequently remove the assembly for repair or replacement. The number and size of the notches can be adjusted to provide acceptable insertion and extraction forces, without lubricant, while not significantly compromising the self-retention capability of the assembly.

A differential pressure sensor (10) having a housing 12 and a metal or alloy isolator (14) for stress isolation of a sensing cell (28) that is mounted to the isolator (14). The metal or alloy isolator (14) has an opening (16) therein for providing access to the sensing cell (28). The housing (12) is molded around the isolator (14) creating a seal therebetween and isolating the sensing cell (28).

Differential pressure sensor having an alloy or metal isolator

A differential pressure transducer housing assembly comprising a sensor housing and a connectable cap member. The cap member includes an input port, a post and at least one coupling member. The sensor housing includes an opening for receiving the post of the cap member, and a bracket for engaging the coupling member. When the cap member is connected to the sensor housing, the coupling member and the bracket engage such that the cap member and the housing are fixed in register with respect to each other. Because the cap member is connectable to the sensor housing, numerous cap members having different input port orientations are possible, thus providing flexibility of design with respect to the entire sensor assembly.
