A method and system for automated settlement and on-line debiting of a financial transaction, such as an emergency-cash transaction, is provided. A bank customer enters a foreign-branch bank and indicates a need for emergency cash. The customer is given a telephone by which the customer communicates with an interactive-voice response system in the customer's language. The system bridges the customer with the customer's home bank, which approves the requested emergency cash. A network in communication with the voice response system and with the issuer automatically initiates an on-line debiting of an account of the customer. The network also initiates and carries out settlement between the acquirer and the issuer by way of settlement accounts.

System and method for automated debiting and settling of financial transactions

A system and method for authenticating a smart card user at a reader device makes use of an application on a smart card microprocessor on which information fields relating to biometric information for the user and a table of pre-defined probability of occurrence values for user authentication is stored. The smart card and a biometric sample for the user is presented to the reader device, and an application associated with the reader device automatically authenticates the user based on a match level between the stored biometric information and the presented biometric sample according to a desired probability of occurrence value from the stored table. Alternatively, the user is automatically authenticated by an application on the smart card microprocessor. The reader device reads the presented biometric sample, automatically presents what is read to the smart card application, and the smart card application then authenticates the user according to the threshold match score from the stored table that corresponds to the desired probability of occurrence value.

System and method of biometric smart card user authentication

An audio information delivery system collects electronic data via Internet or other conveyance, and responsive to customer inquiries, selectively retrieves data from local stores in areas of interest to the inquiring customers, formats the data, and transmits the data in audio form to the customers via their telephones. Initially, an information delivery agency makes advance arrangements with remotely located content providers to repeatedly obtain information of prescribed character. Agency computers continually gather digitally stored audio and text information from the predefined content providers and assemble the gathered information into a universal database. Separately, the agency enrolls a number of individual customers, which includes obtaining each customer's preferences regarding information content and playback order. Responsive to a telephone call from a registered customer, agency's computers retrieve the caller's pre-stored preferences and proceed to identify information in the universal database that pertains to the caller's subject matter preferences. After preparing vocalizations of the text information, agency computer equipment audibly presents the audio information and vocalizations to the caller in predetermined order via the caller's telephone connection. This is achieved, for example, by using an intermediate telephone network such as a wireless carrier network.

System and method for gathering, personalized rendering, and secure telephonic transmission of audio data

A system and method for allowing telephone-based interactive performance of financial transactions in multiple languages. The system prompts the customer of a financial institution in various languages until the customer's language and home country are identified. The system then connects the customer telephonically with a representative who speaks the customer's language and who can authorize the transaction by accessing the customer's records. Authorization by the local representative and record keeping are also provided.
