A battery operated device includes a receiver for receiving a transmission that includes a postamble. A sensor, in a tire, measures a parameter of the tire and outputs data indicative of the parameter. A microprocessor is coupled to the receiver and the sensor. The microprocessor is configured to periodically partially awaken to determine whether the transmission is likely a forward link packet (FLP) by examining the postamble, and to transmit the data in a reverse link packet (RLP) in response to confirming that the transmission is a FLP.

System for conserving battery life in a battery operated device

A system for conserving battery life in a battery operated device such as a tire tag where there are several modes of operation. The typical mode is the deep sleep mode where the tag is generally inactive (no clock is running; however, an RC watchdog timer is running, which uses very little power). The tag spends most of its time in this low power mode. The tag periodically partially awakens to a lucid sleep mode (when the watchdog timer times out), initiates a low-speed clock, determines if it is time to enter a search mode by examining a search mode counter and, if it is not time, adjusts the search mode counter (e.g., decrements the counter by one), and returns to the deep sleep mode. The tag sleeps in the deep sleep mode most of its life in an effort to conserve battery power. During the deep sleep mode, because the clock oscillators are OFF, a deep sleep counter is adjusted (incremented or decremented) periodically (e.g., about every 18 ms) by an internal R/C oscillator. The internal watchdog timer (WDT) monitors the deep sleep counter and when the deep sleep counter, for example, contains a NULL value (all zeroes) the WDT wakes up the microcontroller (i.e., the WDT initiates the low-speed clock so that the tag cannot enter the lucid sleep mode). The tire tag delivers data at a slower or faster rate to achieve the important advantage of extending battery life. Also to extend battery life two oscillators are desirable because they allow two clock speeds. Having two clocks allows a designer to minimize use of the high-speed clock, thus conserving battery power.

A monitoring device and patch assembly and method for forming the assembly is disclosed wherein the patch includes a platform and at least a portion of the monitoring device is positioned adjacent the patch. At least a portion of the monitoring device and platform are encapsulated to connect the monitoring device to the patch.

Monitoring device and patch assembly

An electronic tire maintenance system is provided for measuring a parameter of a device at a first location. The system includes a sensor for measuring the device parameter and generating a data signal representing the measured parameter. The system also includes a microprocessor coupled to the sensor for activating the sensor on a first periodic basis to measure the device parameter. The microprocessor includes a memory for storing the generated data signal representing the measured parameter. A transmitter and a receiver are coupled to the microprocessor. The microprocessor periodically partially awakens to determine, on a second periodic basis, if a received transmission is a valid interrogation signal and, if so, fully awakens and responds to the valid interrogation signal, via the transmitter, by at least transmitting the last stored measured parameter. In one embodiment, the device is a tire tag mounted inside a tire that measures tire data and transmits that data to a remote source in response to an interrogation request, an alert condition, or automatically on a periodic basis.

Electronic tire management system

Provided is a manually operated wash station that can simultaneously apply a wash process to multiple cells of a multi-well synthesis reactor plate. Further provided is a manually operated wash station that can be adapted to automatic computer control. A method for simultaneously washing a plurality of wells in a multi-well container is provided. Additionally, a method for purifying a plurality of chemical products simultaneously in a multi-well reactor plate.

Reactor plate washing station

A clamping system including a cover plate with an underside having at least one step, and a bottom plate having a base connected to a first side, a second side, a third side, and a fourth side. The bottom plate also has a well for receiving a reactor plate. The clamping system further includes a compression skirt positioned between the cover plate and the bottom plate, with the compression skirt having a first side, a second side, a third side, and a fourth side corresponding to the first, second, third, and fourth sides of the bottom plate, respectively. Additionally, the clamping system includes a first and a second upper latch assembly for clamping the cover plate to the compression skirt, and a first and a second lower latch assembly for clamping the compression skirt to the bottom plate.

A reusable tubular casing for use in producing sausage comprises an elongate, tubular membrane; an elongate, tubular supporting layer in surrounding relation to the membrane through a substantial portion of its length; a rigid support structure supporting the membrane and said supporting layer to define a substantially smooth through bore extending from end to end of the elongate membrane. A carrier for releasably retaining the reusable casing comprises a supporting body, yokes for receiving and locating the casing relative to the body, and a force imposing structure impinging on the ends of the casing to maintain a predetermined force against sausage material carried within said casing.

A unitary plastic cap having an inner and outer sealing flange surrounding means for compressively engaging the cap with an apertured member. Upon compression, the inner and outer flanges of the cap cooperate with a raised annular ridge disposed radially outward of the aperture on the member to provide a double sealing engagement of the cap with the member.

A removable one-piece plastic drive rivet for use in an apertured work piece including a head having a depending bifurcated shank and a threaded drive pin which can be driven into a through-bore by an axial blow which expands the shank behind the panel and can be removed therefrom by rotation of the drive pin.
