A technology is described for a repeater system configured to provide services via a cloud-computing environment. The repeater system can comprise an n-band repeater, wherein n is a positive integer greater than 0; a server port; a donor port; one or more processors and memory in communication with the n-band repeater; and a scanning receiver coupled to the one or more processors and memory, wherein the scanning receiver is configured to scan one or more of the n bands of the n-band repeater and communicate carrier-specific information for the one or more of the n bands to a computer server located in the cloud-computing environment to enable access to the carrier-specific information from the cloud-computing environment.

Repeater with carrier-specific information

A technology is described for a repeater system comprising a repeater and a scanning receiver. The repeater can comprise a first port, a second port, one or more amplification and filtering paths coupled between the first port and the second port and one or more processors and memory. The scanning receiver can be configured to: identify one or more frequency ranges associated with a plurality of cellular carriers; scan the one or more frequency ranges; identify cellular carrier specific information for the one or more frequency ranges associated with the plurality of cellular carriers; and provide the cellular carrier specific information to the repeater.

A method is disclosed that is implemented by a computing device in a vehicle. Identifying information is obtained from an occupant of the vehicle via an input device operatively connected to the computing device. If the computing device has connectivity to a remote authentication server, the computing device transmits a request to the authentication server, and controls whether full operation of the vehicle is enabled or disabled based on a response from the remote authentication server. The request includes the identifying information and a vehicle identifier of the vehicle, and requests that the authentication server determine, based on the identifying information and the vehicle identifier, whether the occupant is authorized to operate the vehicle. If the computing device lacks connectivity to the remote authentication server, full operation of the vehicle is temporarily enabled until the computing device has connectivity to the remote authentication server.

Method and apparatus for enhancing the ability of a subscriber to connect to a carrier network by enabling the service provider to indicate to the subscriber when a requested connection to the carrier network would utilize unguaranteed bandwidth and, absent objection by the subscriber, to complete the requested connection utilizing the unguaranteed bandwidth. Upon receipt of a request for set-up of a call of an indicated bandwidth, the service provider will acknowledge the call set-up request. The service provider will then issue a call proceeding message to indicate that the requested connection is being arranged. The call proceeding message will contain an unguaranteed bandwidth indicator if the carrier network cannot guarantee the requested bandwidth. If a cancellation of the call request is not received in response to the unguaranteed bandwidth indicator, the call will be completed.
