A method and a system of controlling a home wireless system wherein the home wireless system comprises a plurality of peripheral wireless nodes () and a first gateway () having wireless communication means for communicating with. The method includes installing at least one second gateway () in the home wireless system, broadcasting an identification message from a peripheral wireless node () searching for a controlling gateway in a link establishment process, and receiving in each of the first gateway () and the at least one second gateway (') the identification message. Further steps are determining a delay in each of the gateways, sending after the delay from the gateway a request message, and completing the link establishment process by responding in the peripheral wireless node () to the request message received from the gateway responding after the shortest delay, the peripheral wireless node () then being bound to the gateway responding after the shortest delay. Each gateway of the system comprises wireless communication means () for communicating with wireless peripheral nodes and a central unit () arranged to apply the delay.

Method and apparatus for controlling a home wireless system

A home wireless system and a method of controlling it wherein the home wireless system comprises a plurality of wireless peripheral nodes and a first gateway having a wireless communication means for communicating with and controlling wireless peripheral nodes. The method comprises: a) installing at least one second gateway in said home wireless system, b) binding wireless peripheral nodes to said first gateway or anyone of said at least second gateway,c) each wireless peripheral node repeatedly sending messages to the bound gateway, d) said bound gateway sending an acknowledge message as a response to the message received from the wireless peripheral node, e) each wireless peripheral node initiating a searching process for an available gateway among said first and said at least one second gateway if not receiving an acknowledge message from the bound gateway, said searching process including a link establishment process, and f) proceeding said link establishment process in a responding gateway by binding said searching wireless peripheral node to communicate with the responding gateway. The at least one second gateway is provided with wireless communication means for communicating with and controlling wireless peripheral nodes.

A method and a device for supervising a home wireless system wherein the home wireless system comprises a plurality of peripheral wireless nodes (), a first gateway () having wireless communication means for communicating with and controlling associated peripheral wireless nodes. Other steps are installing at least one second gateway (), each of said peripheral wireless nodes () being assigned to one of said first gateway () and said at least one second gateway (), maintaining a supervision timer for each assigned peripheral wireless node (), transmitting from each of said peripheral wireless nodes () a periodic status message, resetting in the gateway said supervision timer when receiving a periodic status message from an assigned peripheral wireless node (), and reporting from a first gateway to said at least one second gateway an assigned peripheral wireless node () as failed when no periodic status message has been received within a predefined time period. The device also comprises at least on remote central monitoring station () and timing means in said gateways and said nodes.

The method comprises generating in said RCMS an updated home wireless system configuration characteristic on the basis of the number of and characteristics of peripheral wireless nodes in said home wireless system, transmitting from said RCMS said updated home wireless system configuration characteristic to and storing said home wireless system configuration characteristic in said first gateway (), repeatedly forwarding said updated home wireless system configuration characteristic from said first gateway () to said at least one second gateway (), and comparing said updated home wireless system configuration characteristic with a previously stored home wireless system configuration characteristic.

A method of synchronizing state information of a home wireless system wherein the home wireless system comprises a plurality of peripheral wireless nodes () and a first gateway () having wireless communication means for communicating with and controlling associated peripheral wireless nodes, the method comprising the steps installing at least one second gateway () in said home wireless system, assigning peripheral wireless nodes to said first gateway () or anyone of said at least one second gateway ('), and each gateway directing each assigned peripheral wireless node to communicate with an assigned gateway, receiving in a first gateway system state affecting input message from an associated peripheral wireless node, determining in said first gateway a resulting system state based on said input, and communicating said resulting system state as a state change message from said first gateway to said at least one second gateway.
