A fuel storage assembly for a vehicle includes a fuel tank defining a fuel chamber, a fuel pump module and a vapor pressure detection system. The fuel pump module includes a flange engaged to the fuel tank and a fuel pump assembly supported by the flange and disposed in the fuel chamber. The vapor pressure detection system includes a vapor pressure sensor attached to the flange, a vapor pressure inlet device disposed in the fuel chamber, and a conduit communicating between the vapor pressure inlet device and the vapor pressure sensor.

Fuel storage assembly for a vehicle

An evaporative emissions control system includes an evaporative emissions control canister, a first fuel vapor return conduit including a first end fluidically connected the evaporative emissions control canister and a second end connectable to an internal combustion (IC) engine. A first valve is fluidically connected to the first fuel vapor return conduit. A second fuel vapor return conduit includes a first end portion fluidically connected to the first fuel vapor return conduit and a second end portion configured to be arranged in a vehicle fuel tank. A second valve is fluidically connected to the second fuel vapor return conduit at the second end portion in the vehicle fuel tank. A vapor return system includes a pump fluidically connected to the second valve in the vehicle fuel tank.

Evaporative emissions control canister purge system

A fuel injection apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes a fuel supply line in communication with a fuel tank and a fuel pump system. A fuel rail is connected to the fuel supply system and a plurality of fuel injectors. A return line extending from the fuel rail to the fuel tank. A by-pass passage extending from the supply line to the return line and including a pressure release valve having a pre-set activation pressure. A fuel temperature sensor for sensing a feed temperature of the fuel in the fuel supply system. A pressure control module that sets a first pressure set point in the fuel rail below the pre-set activation pressure when the feed temperature is below a predetermined temperature and sets a second pressure set point above the pre-set activation pressure of the pressure release valve when the feed temperature is above the predetermined temperature.

Diesel low pressure/high pressure flow control system

A fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank and a coupling assembly for coupling the fuel tank to the underbody of a vehicle. The fuel tank includes a tank body and a plurality of tabs extending from the tank body. Each tab has a tab opening. The coupling assembly includes at least one strap partially surrounding the fuel tank. The strap defines a strap opening. The coupling assembly further includes at least one fastener extending through the strap opening and the tab opening. Further, the coupling assembly includes a compression sleeve partially positioned in the tab opening. The compression sleeve defines a sleeve opening for receiving the fastener. The compression sleeve has a height that is greater than the height of each of the tabs in order to attenuate the transfer of tensile loads from the at least one strap to the tabs.

Fuel tank coupling assembly

A number of variations may include a product comprising: a mechanical seal fuel fill system including a fill line for transporting fuel into a fuel tank. The fill line may be operatively connected to a fill cup to receive a fill nozzle. The fuel fill system may also include a vapor canister to receive fuel vapors displaced during refueling from the fuel tank. The vapor canister may be fed via a canister vent valve inside the fuel tank. The fuel system may also include a recirculation line connecting the fuel tank to the fill line. The recirculation line may include an auxiliary valve in the fuel tank. The recirculation valve and the auxiliary valve may be in a parallel arrangement.

Fuel fill systems and methods

In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, an emission control system and method is provided for a vehicle. The system comprises a reductant reservoir having an intake pipe for receiving reductant and a heater for heating the reductant. A pump provides the heated reductant to an injector and also to a conduit extending into the intake pipe to provide heated reductant into the intake pipe to melt any frozen reductant in the intake pipe. The method comprises heating reductant stored within a reservoir of a vehicle emission control system, and pumping the heated reductant into an intake pipe of the reservoir to melt any frozen reductant in the intake pipe.

Emission control system for a vehicle

A reductant reservoir for an emission control system has a pump assembly with an intake adapted to withdraw reductant from the reservoir, a heating element associated with the pump assembly for heating reductant and an outlet for delivering heated reductant to the emission control system. A nozzle assembly ejects a portion of heated reductant into the reservoir to thaw frozen reductant.

A system for storage and delivery of a fuel additive on-board a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle having a purely electric mode of operation and a hybrid mode of operation and having a fuel tank configured to store a fuel includes a reservoir configured to store the fuel additive, a pump that delivers the fuel additive to the fuel tank, a first and second conduit, a controller that actuates the pump to deliver the fuel additive from the reservoir, an electric motor, a battery, and an internal combustion engine configured to consume the fuel during the hybrid mode of operation. A method of storing and delivering the fuel additive on-board the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle includes storing the fuel additive within the reservoir and actuating the pump via the controller to deliver the fuel additive from the reservoir to the fuel tank.

System and method for storage and delivery of a fuel additive on-board a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle

A fuel tank shield is provided for mounting between a fuel tank and a rotating drive shaft of the type having a generally smooth cylindrical outer surface from which a hard edge extends adjacent the fuel tank shield. A recess is provided in the fuel tank shield and a block of cushion material is mounted in the recess to fill the recess. In an event that would cause the rotating drive shield to encroach into the space normally occupied by the fuel tank shield, the cushion material will be subjected to wearing away by the contact of the hard edge of the rotating drive shaft so that the hard edge becomes absorbed within the pocket formed by wearing away of a portion of the cushion material.

A dual fuel pump fuel extraction system for saddle fuel tanks. A primary modular reservoir assembly (MRA) includes an electric primary fuel pump located in the primary sump of a saddle fuel tank and a secondary MRA including an electric secondary fuel pump located in the secondary sump of the saddle fuel tank, wherein both the primary and secondary fuel pumps extract fuel from the primary sump and simultaneously transfer fuel between the primary and secondary sumps so as to thereby ensure both the primary and secondary fuel pumps have fuel, without starving one before the other, until fuel becomes depleted from the saddle fuel tank.
