An ultraviolet (UV) radiation resistance enhanced printing process uses a thermally migratable ultraviolet radiation absorber applied to a substrate to form a surface protection layer for images within the substrate. A hydrophobic thermally migratable ultraviolet radiation absorber may be applied to a transfer media prior to image transfer or as part of imaging the substrate. The application of the radiation absorber to the transfer media may be delivered digitally, either by inks comprising both sublimable colorants and the radiation absorber, or by inks comprising the radiation absorber.

Substrate UV light resistant printing process

An ultraviolet (UV) radiation resistance enhanced printing process uses a thermally migratable ultraviolet radiation absorber applied to a substrate to form a surface protection layer for sublimation images within the substrate. The process involves powder coating polymeric materials having an affinity to both sublimation colorants and hydrophobic thermally migratable ultraviolet radiation absorbers. A hydrophobic thermally migratable ultraviolet radiation absorber may be applied to a transfer media prior to image transfer. The application of the radiation absorber to the transfer media may be delivered digitally, either by inks comprising both sublimation colorants and the radiation absorber, or by inks comprising the radiation absorber.

Treated wood, wood preservative compositions, and methods for treating wood generally include applying to the wood a wood preservative composition comprising a boron containing compound and a pH-reduced black liquor comprising soluble lignin, wherein the boron-containing compound is soluble in the pH-reduced black liquor and wherein the pH-reduced black liquor is derived from a carbonation process or an acid addition process of black liquor having phase-separated solid lignin and/or dense liquid lignin removed therefrom, and drying the wood.

Wood preservatives and methods for treating wood

A power line connector/tap splice apparatus is provided for forming an electrical connection between an electrical power cable and an electrical lead wire. A clamp assembly having a curved top plate and a V-shaped bottom plate are connected on either side of the electrical cable. The top plate is connected to an insulator body having a longitudinal passage. A conducting set screw and conducting penetrator are received in the longitudinal passage, and are advanced toward the electrical cable by an insulated hex wrench. The insulator cap is manually operable, and carries a thumb cap assembly which includes a spring which biases an end of the electrical lead wire into electrical connection with the conductive set screw. The power line connector/tap splice apparatus forms a watertight connection with the electrical power cable, and can be used to safely connect an electrical lead wire to an energized power cable without requiring an insulator blanket or insulated power gloves. The apparatus is adapted for use with various types of power cable, such as with relatively tightly or loosely wound conductors, or various cable insulations.
