Introduced here are approaches to transferring relevant information from a first electronic device (also called a 'source electronic device') that is presently outputting an interfacing signal that is detectable by a second electronic device (also called a “recipient electronic device”) via modification of the interfacing signal. Such modification causes the relevant information to be appended to the interfacing signal and then transferred to the recipient electronic device. This can be accomplished by superimposing another signal that is representative of the relevant information onto the interfacing signal. Thus, the relevant information can be transferred from the source electronic device to the recipient electronic device by superimposing a signal onto the interfacing signal that is output by the source electronic device.

Broadcasting contextual information through modification of audio and video interfaces

Lidar imaging techniques are disclosed. An example method includes projecting direct laser beams toward an area of interest, and projecting reflected laser beams toward the area of interest, wherein the reflected laser beams are reflected from a reflective surface disposed at a known location relative to an electronic device. The method also includes receiving light scattered in the area of interest due to the direct laser beams and the reflected laser beams. The method also includes determining signal characteristics of the detected scattered light received from the area of interest caused by both the direct laser beams and the reflected laser beams. The method also includes computing a depth map corresponding to the area of interest based on the signal characteristics.

Examples of the disclosure relate to apparatus, methods and computer programs for calibrating machine learning systems by using images captured by an imaging device. The apparatus can comprise means for: enabling at least one of a first device or second device to display one or more calibration images, the first device comprising an embedded machine learning system wherein the one or more calibration images are for calibrating the embedded machine learning system. The apparatus can also comprise means for controlling an imaging device to capture, at least part of, the one or more calibration images, wherein the imaging device is provided within the first device, and using the one or more calibration images captured by the imaging device to calibrate the embedded machine learning system of the first device.

According to various, but not necessarily all, examples of the disclosure there is provided an apparatus comprising: one or more portions of material configured to vibrate at one or more ultrasonic frequencies when the material is positioned within a varying magnetic field; and wherein the one or more portions of material configured to vibrate at one or more ultrasonic frequencies are positioned so that, when a varying magnetic field is applied to the apparatus, the vibration caused by the varying magnetic field provides increased cooling within a cooling system.

The apparatus may comprise means for receiving video data representing a video recording of at least one input made by a user at a user device; receiving audio data representing an audio recording of at least one audio input made by the user at the user device; determining whether there is a correspondence between the at least one input represented in the video data and the at least one audio input represented in the audio data; and providing verification based on the determination.

The method, apparatus and computer program product estimate the depth to objects within a scene that is captured by first and second cameras of a mobile terminal. A method includes determining, based upon an image including an eye of a user captured by a first camera of a mobile terminal and an image of a scene captured by a second camera of the mobile terminal, two or more angles of a geometric shape defined by the eye, the mobile terminal and an object of the scene. Based upon the image captured by the first camera, the method also determines a first distance from the first camera to the eye. The method further estimates the depth to the object in the scene relative to the mobile terminal based upon the first distance and one or more angles of the geometric shape defined by the eye, the mobile terminal and the object.

Dust mitigation techniques are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a first component coupled in a movable relationship with a second component. The first component or the second component includes a recess accessible through an aperture. The apparatus also includes a brush disposed at the aperture and comprising fibers configured to prevent intrusion of dust into the recess. The apparatus also includes a vibration device configured to deliver a vibrational stimulus to the brush, wherein the vibration device activates a dust collection mode in response to a first movement of the first component relative to the second component and activates a dust shedding mode in response to a second movement of the first component relative to the second component.

Examples of the disclosure relate to at least apparatus, methods, and computer programs, configured to control capture of two images of an area, across which a pulse propagates, using different shutter scanning directions. Either the images are converted into pulse-phase maps of the area and a pulse-phase difference map obtained which identifies differences between the pulse-phase maps of the area, or a colour difference map is obtained which identifies differences between the two images and the colour difference map is converted into a pulse-phase difference map. A shutter-time difference map is obtained which identifies differences between capture times of corresponding locations in the two images. Using the shutter-time difference map, the pulse-phase difference map is corrected to obtain a map of pulse-phase changes which have occurred over a duration of a shutter scan.

According to various, but not necessarily all, embodiments there is provided an apparatus comprising means for: determining at least two locations at which a user touches a device; selecting a first location and a second location from the at least two locations to define a transmission path for an acoustic signal through the user; applying an acoustic signal to the user through the first location; detecting an acoustic signal transmitted through the user at the second location; and analysing the detected acoustic signal to determine if it is indicative of transmission of the applied acoustic signal through an authorised user based on a known bioacoustic signature of the authorised user.

According to various, but not necessarily all, embodiments there is provided an apparatus comprising means for: obtaining a propagation profile for wireless signals transmitted between at least two devices via a creeping wave along a user's skin; causing transmission of electromagnetic radiation towards a plurality of locations on a target user's body to obtain dielectric properties of their skin at the plurality of locations based on an amount of the electromagnetic radiation reflected from each location; determining whether the propagation profile correlates with a realizable creeping wave along the target user's skin, the realizability being based on the obtained dielectric properties of their skin; and forming an association between the target user and the at least two devices based on a strength of correlation between the propagation profile and a realizable creeping wave.
