Elevator components can be equipped with an electronic information plate. The electronic information plates are associated with a particular electronic information plate that can store different properties of the associated component. The content of each electronic information plate is read manually or automatically and transmitted to a controller. The controller analyzes the received content and launches a predetermined action if the content indicates a need for maintenance.

Maintenance method of an elevator component

The invention relates to a method for inspecting quality and/or condition of an elongated composite member, which is a load bearing member of a rope of a hoisting apparatus, such as an elevator, or a precursor of such a load bearing member, the method comprising providing an elongated composite member; and changing the temperature of said elongated composite member by heating or cooling said elongated composite member via a flank thereof; and scanning said elongated composite member from a lateral side thereof with a thermal imaging device after said changing of the temperature; and creating thermographic images of said elongated composite member.

Method for checking the integrity of composite load bearing member

A hoisting device rope has a width larger than a thickness thereof in a transverse direction of the rope. The rope includes a load-bearing part made of a composite material, the composite material including non-metallic reinforcing fibers, which include carbon fiber or glass fiber, in a polymer matrix. An elevator includes a drive sheave, an elevator car and a rope system for moving the elevator car by means of the drive sheave. The rope system includes at least one rope that has a width that is larger than a thickness thereof in a transverse direction of the rope. The rope includes a load-bearing part made of a composite material. The composite material includes reinforcing fibers in a polymer matrix.

The invention relates to a method for defining a condition of an elevator car suspension means. The method includes detecting a rate of change of elongation of the elevator car suspension means in order to define the condition of the elevator car suspension means. The invention relates to a belt-shaped rope of an elevator having opposite lateral sides facing in thickness direction of the rope, at least one of the lateral sides being shaped to have elongated ribs that are disposed adjacent each other in width direction of the rope and extend parallel with the longitudinal direction of the rope. Each said rib has a first flank face for contacting a flank face of a rib of a rope wheel, and a second flank face for contacting a flank face of a rib of a rope wheel. Each said first and second flank face is shaped to have an arcuate cross-sectional profile, and said first and second flank face are shaped to arc to such steepness that the angle defined between their tangents is acute, and the surface material of said flank faces has shore A hardness more than 85 and less than 100. The invention also relates to an elevator arrangement as well as to an elevator, implementing the aforementioned belt-shaped rope.

A car speed monitoring assembly for an elevator includes an elongated flexible member tensioned to extend in a hoistway of the elevator in a longitudinal direction of the hoistway and first and second rollers mounted rotatably on an elevator car and tensioned against a lateral side of the elongated flexible member. Each roller may roll along a surface of the lateral side of the elongated flexible member based on the elevator car moving relative to the elongated flexible member. The car speed monitoring assembly may detect respective rotation speeds of the first roller and the second roller, trigger one or more particular actions when one or both of these rotation speeds exceeds a limit speed, and trigger the one or more particular actions based on the respective rotation speeds deviating from each other. The one or more particular actions include causing movement of the elevator car to be stopped.

Car speed monitoring assembly for an elevator

An elevator includes an elevator car; a counterweight; a drive wheel mounted stationary, and having a rotational axis; first diverting wheel(s), mounted on the elevator car, and having a rotational axis parallel with the rotational axis of the drive wheel; a second and a third diverting wheel mounted on the counterweight radially side by side, each having a rotational axis, which is at an angle of 60 to 90 degrees relative to the rotational axis of the drive wheel; a roping suspending the elevator car and counterweight and including a first belt-like rope and a second belt-like rope, each having a first end and a second end fixed to a stationary rope fixing, and each comprising one or more load bearing members made of fiber-reinforced composite material; wherein the first rope and the second rope are arranged to pass side by side from the fixing of the first end downwards to the elevator car; and to turn side by side under said first diverting wheel(s); and to pass upwards to the drive wheel; and to turn side by side over the drive wheel; and to pass downwards to the counterweight, each rope turning around its longitudinal axis an angle of 60 to 90 degrees, and into the gap between the rims of the second and third diverting wheel, the first rope passing to the second diverting wheel and the second rope passing to the third diverting wheel, the first rope passing under the second diverting wheel and the second rope passing under the third diverting wheel, the diverting wheels rotating in opposite directions guiding the ropes arriving to them from the drive wheel to turn away from each other; and to pass upwards to the fixing of the second end.

Elevator

An elevator includes a hoistway, an elevator car and a counterweight vertically movable in the hoistway, a drive machine including a drive sheave, a roping including one or more ropes between the elevator car and the counterweight and passing around the drive sheave and suspending the elevator car and the counterweight. The drive sheave is positioned in the hoistway space between a hoistway wall and the vertical projection of the car, the drive sheave rotation plane being at least substantially parallel to the hoistway wall. The rope(s) is/are belt-like, each including at least one force transmission parts for transmitting force in the longitudinal direction of the rope, which force transmission part is made of composite material including reinforcing fibers in a polymer matrix. The reinforcing fibers are carbon fibers, and the force transmission part has width larger than thickness thereof as measured in width-direction of the rope.

Elevator and elevator rope

The invention relates to an elevator system comprising a first elevator car, a second elevator car, a rotatable rope wheel mounted on a fixed location, and a roping suspending the first and second elevator car on opposite sides of the rope wheel, the roping comprising at least one rope passing over the rope wheel, and connected on the first side of the rope wheel to the first elevator car and on the second side to the second elevator car. Said rope comprises at least one load bearing member oriented parallel with the longitudinal direction of the rope made of composite material comprising reinforcing fibers embedded in polymer matrix, which reinforcing fibers are carbon fibers oriented parallel with the longitudinal direction of the rope.

Elevator system

An elevator includes an elevator car and a counterweight; a first roping between the elevator car and counterweight and including at least one rope; a second roping between the elevator car and counterweight and including at least one rope; and a rope wheel arrangement, having at least one rope wheel, around which the at least one rope of the second roping passes. The longitudinal force transmission capability of the at least one rope of the second roping is based essentially on non-metallic fibers and is a belt-like rope having at least one contoured side provided with guide rib(s) and/or guide groove(s) oriented in the longitudinal direction of the rope, the side being fitted to pass against a contoured circumference of a rope wheel of the rope wheel arrangement, the circumference being provided with guide rib(s) and/or guide groove(s) so as to form a counterpart for the contoured side of the rope.

Elevator suspension and compensating ropes

A counterweightless elevator includes a hoistway, a car vertically movable in the hoistway, one or more suspension ropes, a rotatable drive member engaging said suspension rope(s), each of the suspension rope(s) having a first rope section on the first side of the drive member and a second rope section on the second side of the drive member, and each rope section being connected to the car, said first rope section suspending the car, and a tightening device arranged to tighten the second rope section. Each of said rope(s) is belt-like and includes a load bearing member or a plurality of load bearing members, which load bearing member(s) is/are made of composite material including reinforcing fibers embedded in a polymer matrix, which reinforcing fibers are carbon fibers.

Stall condition in an elevator is potentially dangerous situation if it causes slack to the ropes of the elevator. In such situation a counterweight or elevator car does not move even if the hoisting machine is still operating. This situation may be prevented by stopping the elevator as early as possible after detecting such stall condition. The detection of the stall condition is based on monitoring the torque generated by the hoisting machine of the elevator. When rapid change in the torque is detected a stall condition is suspected. The elevator may be stopped or an alarm may be launched when the stall condition is suspected.

Method and system for detecting a stall condition in an elevator

In a rope of a lifting device, particularly of a passenger transport elevator and/or freight transport elevator, the width of which rope is greater than the thickness in the transverse direction of the rope, which rope includes a load-bearing part in the longitudinal direction of the rope, which load-bearing part includes carbon-fiber reinforced, aramid-fiber reinforced and/or glass-fiber reinforced composite material in a polymer matrix, and which rope includes one or more optical fibers and/or fiber bundles in connection with the load-bearing part and the optical fiber and/or fiber bundle is laminated inside the load-bearing part and/or the optical fiber and/or fiber bundle is glued onto the surface of the load-bearing part and/or and that the optical fiber and/or fiber bundle is embedded or glued into the polymer envelope surrounding the load-bearing part, as well as to a condition monitoring method for the rope of a lifting device.
