The invention relates to a supercalendered Kraft paper production for a release liner, which contains both non-recycled bleached chemical pulps and recycled pulp produced from release liner supercalendered Kraft paper. When highly specific raw material is used for recycling, the characteristics of the recycled pulp may be adjusted already upon recycling. The recycled pulp obtained from supercalendered Kraft paper that has been used as a substrate of a release liner may be used without further refining for manufacturing supercalendered Kraft paper. Excessive refining can thus be avoided and the compatibility of the recycled pulp may be optimized for supercalendered Kraft paper production. The non-recycled pulps may be refined less, as well. This leads to positive effects in supercalendered Kraft paper manufacturing process, such as improved dewatering and energy efficient drying. The produced paper demonstrates reduced shrinkage and improved dimensional stability, while maintaining sufficient quality for use as a substrate for a release liner. A supercalendered Kraft paper with improved sustainability is produced.

Supercalendered kraft paper comprising recycled fiber

A movable support apparatus (), supported on a floor and movable between at least two target stations, for receiving, moving and handing over rolls, winding shafts () and/or machine reels () intended for the handling of a fiber web. The movable support apparatus () has support members () for holding up the load being handled () at both its support ends () and is adapted to be supported on a floor with at least one pressure medium cushion element (). A handling system includes the movable support apparatus (). Rolls, winding shafts () and/or machine reels () may be handled with the movable support apparatus (). The movable support apparatus may be used as a movable winding stand for the winding of a fiber web (W).

Support apparatus, handling system and method

A counter roll () is positioned to engage a paper or board web () in a paper or board making machine along a contact line. A pressure-sensitive EMFi film () is disposed on the counter roll to measure the pressure profile of the web along the contact line. A coating apparatus () applies a coating to the web passing over the counter roll (), and a pressure profile of the applied coating is measured by the pressure-sensitive film () on the counter roll (). The pressure-sensitive film () may also be disposed to detect details of coating application in a curtain coater (). Moreover, the film may be driven to provide adjustable vibration for cleaning the coater, or conditioning or controlling the coating flow.

A method and an apparatus for controlling the cross-directional nip profile of a reeling nip in a reeler, in which the reeling nip is arranged by means of a reeling core or a growing machine reel and at least one loop of an endless supporting member continuous in the direction of the axis of the reeling core. To control the cross-directional nip profile of the reeling nip, variables proportional to the tension of the supporting member are measured, cross-directional tension profile of the supporting member is determined on the basis of said variables, and further, a cross-directional nip profile of the reeling nip is determined, said nip profile being controlled by adjusting the determined cross-directional tension profile of the supporting member.

A method and a system to control a reeling profile of a material web reel (), when, in the forming of a material web reel (), a web is reeled around a reeling core and when in an adjustment of CD-directional profiles of the web reel, profiling devices () have been applied. For adjusting quality profiles and reeling profiles of the web, profiling devices are managed with the help of profile measurings of the roller nip and/or of the profile measurings of the reel (), which are obtained from the reel-up (). A measuring device () for a measuring of a CD-directional hardness profile of the fiber web reel includes a measuring head (), which is connected with a loading means (), which loads the measuring head against the fiber web reel. The motion course of the measuring head is linear.

In a reel change in the reeling process of a fiber material web, the fiber material web (W) running to a reel that is becoming full is changed to run around a new reeling core () brought to a reel change position in such a way that the web is made to adhere onto the surface of the new reeling core (). The web (W) is made to adhere onto the surface of the reeling core () by a change in the properties of the material on the surface of the reeling core (). The material is a combination of an adhesive area () on the surface of the reeling core and a protective layer () on top of the adhesive area, and the properties of the material are changed by removing the protective layer ().

A method for measuring a nip pressure and/or a pressure profile is provided, wherein a nip-forming roll is fitted with a pressure sensor under a coating layer which is protective and functions as a spring on top of the sensor, and the nip pressure delivers to the bottom surface of the coating a deformation proportional to the nip pressure and the deformation compresses the sensor, which responds to the deformation by generating an electric signal.

On-line measurement for a pressure profile

In a method and an apparatus for controlling reeling used in connection with the making of paper/board/some equivalent web-like material, a reeler is used in the reeling which has a reeling element (), a reeling core (T), around which the web (W) is reeled to form a reel (), as well as elements for loading the reeling core (T) and the reeling element () against each other in order to bring about a reeling nip (N) in between the reeling element () and the reel (). The reeling is monitored by a detection apparatus, which automatically detects any events differing from normal reeling.

Method and apparatus for reeling control having an electromagnetic radiation detection

A method and a roll for measuring a tension profile is provided. The roll has planted on its surface a spirally helical pressure-sensitive film sensor, such as an EMFi pressure-sensitive film sensor, which makes contact with a web obliquely and which, co-directionally with the web, has a measuring range which is substantially equal to or shorter than a web overlap angle when the roll is used for measuring a lateral tension profile of the web.

Method and an arrangement for controlling position and/or force of an elongated rolling device

In reeling up of a paper web, a continuous paper web is reeled around a reeling core/reeling cores into successive machine reels or customer rolls. The actual control system controlling the reeling up process is supplemented with a substantially separate, model-based learning fault diagnostics. The fault diagnostics in a diagnostic state detects the malfunctions in components critical in view of the operation of the reel-up by monitoring measuring, control and actuating variables of the reel-up and by comparing them with a model formed during a learning state. In a fault tolerance state the fault diagnostics actively affects the measuring, control and actuating variables to maintain the function of the reel-up, and improve operating reliability.

In the treatment process of a paper web, the paper web travels via a surface journalled rotatable, such as a peripheral surface of a cylinder or a roll, and the treatment process is controlled with an adjustment and control unit. The bearing arrangement used for the moving surface is a bearing whose operation is maintained by supplying control energy therein, wherein the information obtained from the control energy of the bearing is used in the adjustment and control unit to control the process. The bearing which is used can be a magnetic bearing and the process which is controlled can be reeling or winding or calendaring.
