Method for assuring that the operator of a vehicle is an authorized driver, the method including utilizing an onboard, multi-mode driver identification system to ascertain whether an operator is an authorized driver. A first driver identification procedure is performed on a present operator of the vehicle and determining whether the present operator is an authorized or unauthorized driver of the vehicle. A second driver identification procedure is performed on the present operator of the vehicle and determining whether the present operator is an authorized or unauthorized driver of the vehicle, wherein the first and second driver identification procedures are performed with a time interval therebetween, the time interval being dependent upon the nature of the work being performed by the operator. A remedial measure is exercised to avert potentially negative impact when the present operator of the vehicle is determined to be an unauthorized driver based upon at least one of the performed identification procedures.

Method for performing driver identity verification

A method and system for at least one of communication and interaction between a vehicle driver and a plurality of at least one of integrated and non-integrated applications like, e.g., native vehicle applications and/or aftermarket applications and/or nomad applications is disclosed. Method for analyzing ocular and/or head orientation characteristics of a subject. A detection and quantification of the position of a driver's head and/or eye movements are made relative to the environment. Tests of the data are made, and from the data, locations of experienced areas/objects-of-subject-interest are deduced. When a driver of a vehicle is the subject, these areas/objects-of-driver-interest may be inside or outside the vehicle, and may be constituted by (1) 'things' such as audio controls, speedometers and other gauges, and (2) areas or positions such as 'road ahead' and lane-change clearance space in adjacent lanes. In order to &#x201c;standardize&#x201d; the tracking data with respect to the vehicle of interest, the quantification of the position of the driver's head is normalized to the reference-base position thereby enabling deducement of location(s) where the driver has shown an interest based on sensed information regarding either, or both of (1) driver ocular orientation or (2) driver head orientation.

Method and arrangement for interpreting a subjects head and eye activity

A tractor truck configured for towing trailers of different air connection configuration. The truck has a first and a second tractor protection valve, each configured to be located on the tractor at a location remote from the other. Each tractor protection valve location is proximate a typical position at which a mating connection on a trailer will be located when hitched to the tractor. The truck also has a selector which is operator-transitionable between a first configuration in which the first tractor protection valve is activated to supply pressured air to an interconnected trailer and a second configuration in which the second tractor protection valve is activated to supply pressured air to a different interconnected trailer.
