A method for improving security of peripheral devices is described. The method includes displaying, by a processor of a computing device, a code, receiving, by the processor, a user input after displaying the code, comparing, by the processor, the user input to the displayed code, and establishing, by the processor, secure communication between a peripheral device and a software application at the computing device based at least in part on a result of the comparing the user input to the displayed code.

A method for implementing adaptive policy based computer security is described. In one embodiment, the method may include monitoring a behavior of a user on a computing device associated with the user, determining whether the user triggers one or more policy triggers associated with a broad policy or at least one sub-policy of the broad policy, or both, and upon determining the user triggers at least one policy trigger during the monitoring period, implementing a customized version of the broad policy on the computing device. In some cases, the method may include implementing the broad policy on the computing device upon determining the user does not trigger any of the one or more policy triggers. In other cases, the method may include triggering at least one of the policy triggers based at least in part on a requested action and determining whether the requested action includes a security threat.

Systems and methods for protecting website visitors

The present disclosure provides methods for an endpoint ranking system that can take endpoint importance, symptom importance, and symptom timing into account when determining endpoint hygiene scores for endpoints in a network. A list of endpoints that is ranked or sorted according to hygiene score can by dynamically generated and can change over time due to the manner in which symptom timing is taken into account. The list can also evolve as parameters for endpoint importance and system importance are modified. An endpoint-importance weight can be assigned to each endpoint to bias hygiene scores according to endpoint importance. Symptom-importance weights and decay rates can also be assigned to symptom types to further bias hygiene scores.

Dynamically ranking and presentation of endpoints based on age of symptoms and importance of the endpoint in the environment

The disclosed computer-implemented method for generating memory images of computing devices may include (1) monitoring a computing device to detect changes made to data stored within the computing device, (2) maintaining a log that describes the data changes made by recording, in response to detecting a change made to a portion of data, both a state of the portion of data after the data change occurred and a time at which the data change occurred, (3) detecting an event that triggers generation of an image of the computing device that represents a state of the computing device at a particular point in time, and (4) in response to detecting the event, generating the image of the computing device by incorporating at least a portion of the log of data changes into the image of the computing device. Systems and methods for generating memory images of computing devices

A method for improving security of peripheral devices is described. In one embodiment, the method includes sending, by a processor of a peripheral device, at least one packet of data to an operating system of a computing device, identifying, by the processor, execution of a software application on the computing device, performing, by the processor, a handshake protocol between the secure input device and the software application based at least in part on the execution of the software application, and establishing, by the processor, a secure session over a secure channel between the secure input device and the software application based at least in part on the handshake protocol. In some cases, the at least one packet of data identifies the peripheral device to the operating system as two or more peripheral devices such as a default input device and a secure input device.

The disclosed computer-implemented method for dynamically validating remote requests within enterprise networks may include (1) receiving, on a target system within an enterprise network, a request to access a portion of the target system from a remote system within the enterprise network, (2) performing a validation operation to determine whether the remote system is trustworthy to access the portion of the target system by (A) querying an enterprise security system to authorize the request from the remote system and (B) receiving, from the enterprise security system in response to the query, a notification indicating whether the remote system is trustworthy to access the portion of the target system, and then (3) determining whether to grant the request based at least in part on the notification received from the enterprise security system as part of the validation operation. A mobile app is provisioned with an identifier of a specific partner of an app provider, on a sandboxed OS on a mobile device. A link to the app provider's website containing the partner ID is received from the partner's website. The user navigates to the provider's website, which writes a cookie containing the partner ID and redirects to an app store. The app is downloaded to the mobile device, and registers itself with the OS as a protocol handler for a provider specific protocol. The app launches the provider's website, which retrieves the partner ID from the cookie, and returns a redirect to the provider specific protocol. The redirect contains the partner ID, and causes the app to execute as the registered protocol handler for the provider specific protocol. The app reads the partner ID from the redirect, and uses it to provide partner specific features.

A computer-implemented method for directing application updates may include (1) identifying information that indicates a rate at which an earlier version of an application is exploited in attacks on computing system security, (2) identifying additional information that indicates a rate at which a later version of the application is exploited in attacks on computing system security, (3) determining how updating the application from the earlier version to the later version will impact computing system security by comparing the rate the earlier version of the application is exploited with the rate at which the later version of the application is exploited, and (4) directing a computing system with a determination about updating an installation of the earlier version of the application to the later version of the application based on determining how updating the application will impact computing system security.
