A process for manufacturing allylhalide from gaseous propene and a gaseous halogen comprising introducing propene into a tubular loop reactor (2) through an inlet nozzle (3); introducing gaseous halogen into the tubular loop reactor (2) through several axially spaced groups (6) of radially placed inlet openings (4); allowing the propene and the halogen to react; and removing reaction effluent from the tubular loop reactor (2) through an outlet opening (9), wherein the concentration of halogen in any reactor volume-element is maintained below 3% by mass based on the total gas mixture, and wherein the linear gas velocity of the propene exiting the inlet nozzle is at least sufficient to maintain a continuous circulation within the tubular loop reactor (2) and equipment to be used for said process.

Process for manufacturing allylhalide and equipment to be used therefor

A process for the preparation of alkenes by contacting a feed containing one or more C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkanes at an elevated temperature with a catalyst containing 1-15% w vanadia, calculated as divanadium pentoxide relative to the weight of the catalyst, on a refractory support, where the feed is contacted with the catalyst at a temperature of 600.degree. C. or above during less than 4 seconds.

Process for the preparation of alkenes

Methanethiol is produced from a gaseous feed comprising a mixture of H.sub.2 S and CO by contacting said feed with a catalyst comprising rutile titania at a temperature of at least about 225.degree. C.

Production of methanethiol from H.sub.2 S and CO

Methanethiol is produced from a gaseous feed comprising a mixture of H.sub.2 S and CO by contacting said feed, at a temperature of at least about 225.degree. C., with a catalyst comprising an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of V, Nb, and Ta and mixtures thereof, preferably V, supported on titania and wherein at least a portion, and preferably at least about 25 wt. %, of said supported oxide is in a non-crystalline form.

Hydrogen and methane are synthesized from a gaseous feed comprising a mixture of H.sub.2 S and CO by contacting said feed with a catalyst comprising a sulfided rutile titania at a temperature of at least about 275.degree. C.
