A composition and method for inhibiting lead corrosion of fine tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is disclosed. The detergent composition comprises an aluminum-sequestrant complex formed by binding the aluminum by a sequestrant in a premix, which is then processed with other detergent components. The composition has a pH of less than about 10 and is substantially free of silicates.

Process for incorporating aluminum salts into an automatic dishwashing

An automatic dishwashing detergent composition is described which comprises 0.01 to 1.0% of a fatty acid having from 12 to 22, preferably from 16 to 18, carbon atoms in the acyl radical and are preferably unsaturated; 0.1 to 2% of a carrier containing a ketone which has at least 25 carbon atoms; 0.5 to 40% of a surfactant; 0.1 to 10 weight % of a proteolytic enzyme; 1 to 30 weight % of a bleaching agent selected from the group of a peroxygen or hypohalite agent; and 1 to 75% of a builder providing a composition having a pH of less than about 11. Specifically, the detergent composition must have a weight ratio of long-chain ketone/carrier to fatty acid of 5:1 to 1:1, preferably from 4:1 to 2:1. A method of using the composition is also described.

Anti-foam system for automatic dishwashing compositions

A composition and method for inhibiting lead corrosion of fine tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is disclosed. The composition comprises an aluminum salt which dissolves at a rate to deliver less than 0.56 mM aluminum(III) per minute at 42.degree. C. to a wash liquor, a bleaching agent, a builder and optionally a surfactant. The composition has a pH of less than about 10 and is substantially free of silicates.

Automatic dishwashing compositions containing aluminum salts

A method and composition for inhibiting foam formation in automatic dishwashers are described. The composition comprises an anti-foam system having 0.01 to 1% of certain hydrophobic particulate solids combined with 0.01 to 4% of high viscosity hydrocarbon polymers; 1 to 30 wt. % of a bleaching agent; 1 to 40 wt. % of a surfactant; 0.1 to 10 wt. % of an enzyme; and 1 to 75 wt. % of a builder, the composition having a pH of less than about 11.

A detergent composition which prevents tarnishing of silver and silver-plated articles comprising 1-20 weight percent of a peroxygen or hypohalite bleaching agent, 0.05 to about 10 weight percent of a 1,3-N azole compound, from 1 to 75 weight percent of a builder, and 0 to 40 weight percent of a surfactant is described, provided the pK.sub.a of the 1,3-N azole compound is lower than a pH of the aqueous solution of the composition. A method for preventing silver tarnishing of articles in an automatic dishwashing machine is also described.

A detergent composition which prevents tarnishing of silver and silver-plated articles is described. The composition comprises 1-20 weight percent of a peroxygen or hypohalite bleaching agent, 0.05 to about 10 weight percent of a purine class compound used as a silver anti-tarnishing agent, from 1 to 75 weight percent of a builder, and 0 to 40 weight percent of a surfactant provided that the pK.sub.a of the purine class compound is below a pH of an aqueous solution of the composition in which it is incorporated. A method of using the composition is also described.

A detergent composition comprising 1-20 weight percent of a peroxygen or hypohalite bleaching agent, 0.05 to about 10 weight percent cyanuric acid, from 1 to 75 weight percent of a builder; and 0 to 40 weight percent of a surfactant is described. The composition prevents tarnishing of silver and silver plated articles.
