The invention relates to a method for dissolving cellulose e.g. for the production of regenerated cellulose products such as films, fibers, particles and the like. In said method, the cellulose material is dissolved using an enzymatic treatment, followed by a base treatment. The invention is also directed to a method for producing cellulose particles wherein cellulose dissolved as described above is sprayed or mixed into a regenerating solution for precipitating cellulose particles. Moreover, the invention relates to the use of said cellulose particles produced with this method as a filler and/or coating pigment of paper and board. The invention is also directed to methods for producing and coating paper and board.

Method for dissolving cellulose and for producing cellulose particles

This invention concerns the production of a multilayer fiber product. According to the method, on top of a bottom layer consisting of at least one fiber layer, a second fiber layer is fitted containing filler that forms the surface layer. According to the invention, the layers are formed by multilayer web forming technology, and the surface layer filler includes cellulose or lignocellulose fibrils, on which light-scattering material particles are deposited, having a maximum proportion of the total filler weight of 85%. By means of the invention, a base paper is achieved that is suited to thin, coated paper grades, where conventionally the intrusion of the coating color into the bottom paper and through it is a problem.

Method for producing fiber product

The invention is based on the idea of preparing porous calcium carbonate particles via a degradation reaction from a crystalline initial material which contains the initial components for forming calcium carbonate and additionally initial components for forming the reaction products to be removed from the initial material. In the reaction a substantial portion of the calcium carbonate forms a porous frame in the space occupied by the initial material, around the open space left by the matter leaving the initial material. The invention is also based on the use of such porous calcium carbonate particles as a pigment absorbing printing inks or their solvents on the surface of a printing substrate.
