A mounting structure for mounting a propulsion unit to a hull of a floating structure includes a first mounting surface and a sealed portion provided on the first mounting surface for sealing the propulsion unit to the hull. The first mounting surface is further provided with a pivot point provided at an edge or in the vicinity of an edge of the first mounting surface and outside the sealed portion, and at least two first protrusions spaced from each other on the first mounting surface. Each of the first protrusions includes a surface at least on a side of the first protrusion facing away from the pivot point, which surface is formed at least in a direction perpendicular to the first mounting surface in a manner dependent of a distance between the pivot point and the surface in such a manner that the first protrusion provided in a cylindrical cavity formed in a counterpart is configured to guide a mutual tilting movement of the cylindrical cavity and the first protrusion, when the mounting structure and, thus, the first protrusions are tilted with respect to the cylindrical cavities about the pivot point.

The invention relates to a pod propulsion unit of a ship. The pod propulsion unit comprises a pod housing arranged at least partly below a hull of the ship, an electric propeller motor within a motor gondola of the pod housing, an annular gap between a rotor and a stator of the electric propeller motor, and gas channels extending through the rotor, a closed cooling gas circuit, and a fan for circulating gas in the closed cooling gas circuit. The closed cooling gas circuit comprising a feeding duct extending between the return duct and the first motor end face of the electrical propeller motor, and a return duct extending between the feeding duct and the opposite second motor end face of the electrical propeller motor.

An arrangement and a method for installing a propulsion unit to a hull of a ship. The propulsion unit comprises an upper part of the propulsion unit attachable to the hull of the ship and a lower part of the propulsion unit where to a propeller shaft is rotatably supported, and the upper part of the propulsion unit having flanges to attach the flanges tightly to the hull, and wherein there is an aperture in the bottom of the hull where to the propulsion unit is to be installed. The arrangement comprises a plurality of watertight covers covering openings in the bottom of the hull and a plurality of watertight covers covering openings in the top of the upper part of the propulsion unit, wherein the arrangement comprises a removable hull-side cover covering at least the opening under it, and at least one removable propulsion unit side cover covering the opening under it and facing the opening, and the removable covers are bolted from the hull-side.

The present disclosure relates to a ship's propulsion unit such as a ship's azimuthing propulsion unit. The propulsion unit can include at least one supporting metal sheet arranged between an support section of a shell structure of the propulsion unit and an cylindrical outer surface of a cylindrical section of a motor housing section of the shell structure for providing additional support for the motor housing section of the shell structure at the shell structure of the support section.
