The invention relates to a method of monitoring battery characteristics in a radio terminal equipment arrangement. The method comprises measuring battery characteristics of a battery of one or more secondary units communicating with radio terminal equipment; establishing a low-power radio frequency (LPRF) connection between radio terminal equipment and a secondary unit of the radio terminal equipment arrangement. The method also comprises receiving, in the radio terminal equipment, the measured battery characteristics of the one or more secondary units via the established LPRF connection; and giving an indication, by the radio terminal equipment, relating to the battery characteristics of the one or more secondary units.

Method of monitoring battery characteristics and radio terminal equipment

A system is provided to facilitate distribution of a service between a first application and a second application. The system includes a remote socket object, a service registry, and a service mapper. The service mapper receives notification from the service registry indicating registration of the remote socket object created in response to a request for a service at the first application. The service mapper requests an active subscription list from the service registry and selects a subscription record from the active subscription list. The subscription record is associated with the second application. The service mapper sends the selected subscription record to the second application using a remote device port mapped to a localhost port and receives a service record from the second application including a socket for communicating with the second application. The service mapper sends a modified service record that includes a localhost socket mapped to the socket to the service registry that registers the second application using information from the modified service record.

Providing service distribution between distributed applications

System and method for identifying various types of room facilities to find out and take into account space information. A tag of a space (S) is included in the fluctuation of the intensity of the light emitted by a lamp (LF) provided in the space in question. The receivers included in the system are arranged e.g. in commercial mobile stations (R). These are provided with a light detector and with a DSP algorithm that analyses the signal given by said light detector. As a result of the analysis, for instance the mobile station is automatically switched off when entering the space in question. There is neither needed a separate transmitter nor separate energy supply arrangements to send the space tag, and the space tag signal can be detected throughout said space. As regards the mobile station, the space-specific operations can be performed automatically, so that the mobile station user does not need to bother, and his possible negligence does not prevent the precautions from being executed.

Space identification system

The context sensitive web services method enables a mobile phone or wireless device to use context inference techniques to sense the user's environment and in response, to provide useful information to the user that is appropriate to the user's perceived environment. The method includes the steps of receiving sensor signals characterizing a current environment of the wireless device; processing the sensor signals with a context inference engine; outputting a current context result from the processing by context inference engine; and providing useful information to the user in response to the current context result. A further aspect of the method provides user control of access by application programs to the user's private data, including private data in a server. Still further, this can also include providing user control of access by application programs in a web server, to the user's private data. Another aspect of the method is providing the current context result to an application program in response to the user control and receiving the useful information from the application program. The invention enables the user to grant access permission to the application program to access the current context result. This can be performed in the user's wireless device or in the network server. The network server can carry out the control of access by application programs in web servers, in response to a user privacy profile received from the user's wireless device.
