Ultrasound is used to detect the proximity of an object and whether the object touches a body of an electronic device. A transducer may produce ultrasonic waves to air and to the device body simultaneously. The transducer is connected to the body, allowing a vibration of the ultrasonic waves to travel in the body. The vibration characteristics, for example the decay, change in the body when the body is touched. The decay may be analyzed to detect the touch. The transducer produces the ultrasonic waves to the airspace in proximity to the electronic device. Waves returning from the airspace, for example, after reflecting back from a proximate object, are analyzed and proximity or a gesture of the object may be detected.

Ultrasound sensing of proximity and touch

A force sensitive surface measures force or pressure applied to the surface. The surface may also detect the touch position. The force sensing surface is calibrated with a stylus having a force measuring element. The stylus measures the force information from force applied on the surface and sends the information to the device with the force sensing surface. The device detects the same force and calibrates the force sensing element according to the information received from the stylus. The device may also detect the position of the touch. As the force information obtained from different portions of the surface may be different, the calibration may be repeated for multiple positions on the force and touch sensitive surface. The calibration may also be used to calibrate a position sensing feature on a force sensing surface having multiple force sensors.

Calibration of a force sensitive device

An approach is provided for efficiently capturing, processing, presenting, and/or associating audio objects with content items and geo-locations. A processing platform may determine a viewpoint of a viewer of at least one content item associated with a geo-location. Further, the processing platform and/or a content provider may determine at least one audio object associated with the at least one content item, the geo-location, or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the processing platform may process the at least one audio object for rendering one or more elements of the at least one audio object based, at least in part, on the viewpoint.

Method and apparatus for associating audio objects with content and geo-location

An apparatus including at least one processor; and at least one non-transitory memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to generate a signal from at least one sound transducer of an apparatus, where the signal is generated based upon sound received at the at least one sound transducer, where the sound includes acoustic noise generated by a component of the apparatus; and remove a noise component from the signal, where the noise component at least partially corresponds to the acoustic noise generated by the component.

Removing noise generated from a non-audio component

A method for distinguishing speakers in a conference call of a plurality of participants, in which method speech frames of the conference call are received in a receiving unit, which speech frames include encoded speech parameters. At least one parameter of the received speech frames is examined in an audio codec of the receiving unit, and the speech frames are classified to belong to one of the participants, the classification being carried out according to differences in the examined at least one speech parameter. These functions may be carried out in a speaker identification block, which is applicable in various positions of a teleconferencing processing chain. Finally, a spatialization effect is created in a terminal reproducing the audio signal according to notified differences by placing the participants at distinct positions in an acoustical space of the audio signal.

Methods, devices and a software product for generating a sinusoidal signal of a desired frequency at a desired sampling rate. If the frequency is higher than the upper limit, a coefficient is determined as a function of the sampling rate and a sample of the first output sample sequence is determined as a linear combination of the coefficient and two previous output samples. The first output sample sequence is decimated by the sampling rate. If the frequency is lower than the lower limit, the coefficient is determined as a function of the sampling rate and the sample of the first output sample sequence is determined as a linear combination of the coefficient and two previous output samples. The first output sample sequence is multiplied so as to generate a second output sample sequence. The second output sample sequence is decimated by the sampling rate.
