An electronic device incudes a rotatable interface configured to be placed on an input device, the rotatable interface including a conductor region and an adjacent patterned region. The rotatable device further includes a first set of coupling electrodes configured to be electrically coupled to the conductor region and to receive a reference signal from a first electrode of the input device, and a second set of coupling electrodes configured to be electrically coupled to the patterned region and to be electrically coupled to a second electrode of the input device, the second electrode configured to receive a resulting signal modified by the rotatable interface. In embodiments, at least a portion of each electrode of the first set of coupling electrodes and the second set of coupling electrodes is respectively provided underneath the conductor and patterned regions, and is configured to abut the input device.

Automotive knob sensing device

An input-display device includes a display screen on a display substrate and capacitive sensing electrodes for capacitive sensing in a sensing region of the display screen. The input-display device also includes a touch and display driver integration (TDDI) circuit on the display substrate, the TDDI circuit including a source driver circuit driving a subset of display pixels of the display screen based on a processed image signal, and an analog frontend for the capacitive sensing, interfacing with the capacitive sensing electrodes to obtain touch signals. The input-display device also includes an image processing circuit generating the processed image signal based on a received image signal and a display parameter, a touch processing circuit generating a touch output signal by processing the touch signals based on instructions of a touch firmware, and a memory physically separate from the display substrate, the memory storing the display parameter and the touch firmware.

Input-display device with shared memory

A method and apparatus for sensing strain in a flexible electronic display. In some implementations, a display controller may be coupled to an electronic display panel. The display controller is configured to receive sensor signals from one or more piezoresistive sensors disposed in the electronic display panel, determine an amount of strain in the electronic display panel based on the received sensor signals, determine a bend angle of the electronic display panel based on the determined amount of strain, and update a configuration of the electronic display panel based at least in part on the determined bend angle. In some implementations, the electronic display panel may be an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display panel. In some implementations, the electronic display panel may include a polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) backplane disposed on a flexible substrate, where each of the piezoresistive sensors includes one or more strain gauges formed on the poly-Si backplane.

Strain sensing in foldable displays

A capacitive sensing device has a first plurality of sensor electrodes, and a second plurality of sensor electrodes overlapping the first plurality of sensor electrodes. A first sensor electrode of the second plurality of electrodes overlaps a first subset of the first plurality of electrodes and comprises apertures disposed according to first codes. The first codes comprise first and second coefficients and along one of the first plurality of sensor electrodes. Each aperture may correspond to one of the first coefficients. The capacitive sensing device further comprises a processing system coupled to the first and second plurality of sensor electrodes. The processing system may be configured to receive resulting signals with the second plurality of sensor electrodes to determine positional information for an input object within a sensing region of the capacitive sensing device.

Spatially encoded sensor electrodes

An electronic device includes a rotatable interface configured to be placed on an input device, the rotatable interface including a conductor region and an adjacent patterned region. The rotatable device further includes a first set of coupling electrodes configured to be electrically coupled to the conductor region and to receive a reference signal from a first electrode of the input device, and a second set of coupling electrodes configured to be electrically coupled to the patterned region and to be electrically coupled to a second electrode of the input device, the second electrode configured to receive a resulting signal modified by the rotatable interface. In embodiments, at least a portion of each electrode of the first set of coupling electrodes and the second set of coupling electrodes is respectively provided underneath the conductor and patterned regions, and is configured to abut the input device.

Automative knob sensing device

A method for determining an amount of ambient light illumination is disclosed. The method includes: estimating a contribution per color component in an optical sensing region of an input frame to be displayed on a display device, wherein the optical sensing region corresponds to a location of an optical sensor in the display device, wherein the input frame comprises digital information for each color component for each pixel of the input frame; causing the optical sensor to detect an amount of illumination in the optical sensing region based on illuminating the display device with a representation of the input frame; and determining the amount of ambient light illumination based on the estimated contribution per color component in the optical sensing region of the input frame and the amount of illumination in the optical sensing region detected by the optical sensor.

Systems and methods for detecting ambient light or proximity with an optical sensor

A system and method for input sensing comprises a display device having at least one piezoresistive sensing transistor. During a first period, a first resulting signal is received with a first data line by driving a first piezoresistive sensing transistor of a first subpixel of the display device with a first select signal. The first resulting signal corresponds to a change in resistance of the first piezoresistive sensing transistor. Further, at least one of force information and positional information associated with an input object may be determined at least partially based on the change in resistance.

Piezoresistive sensing input device

A sensing device comprises sensor electrodes arranged in an array of rows and columns, and vias. A first vias is arranged in a first direction, and corresponds to a first column of sensor electrodes adjacent to a first side edge of the sensing device. A second via is arranged in a second direction different than the first direction, and corresponds to a second column of the sensor electrodes adjacent to a second side edge of the sensing device. Each of the sensor electrodes is configured to be coupled to a routing trace through one of the vias. In a first row of the plurality of sensor electrodes, a two vias are different distances from the first side edge and in a second row of the plurality of sensor electrodes, two vias are different distances from the second side edge.

Sensor electrode patterns for input devices

A processing system for a display device comprises a display driver configured to generate a gate select signal and output the gate select signal to gate select control circuitry to be driven on gate lines for display updating. The gate select signal comprises a transition from a first voltage to a second voltage, a transition from the second voltage to a third voltage, and a transition from the third voltage to the first voltage. The second voltage is greater than the first voltage and the second voltage is maintained for a first period. The third voltage is greater than the second voltage and the third voltage is maintained for a second period. The gate select signal is driven by the gate select control circuitry on gate lines of the display device to select one or more subpixels of the display device for display updating.

Gate select signal with reduced interference

An input device may include various sensor electrodes that define various sensor pixels. The input device may further include a processing system coupled to the sensor electrodes. The processing system may obtain a first resulting signal and a second resulting signal from the sensor electrodes. The processing system may determine, using the first resulting signal, an in-phase estimate of a phase delay at a sensor pixel among the sensor pixels. The processing system may determine, using the second resulting signal, a quadrature estimate of the phase delay at the sensor pixel. The processing system may determine, based at least in part on the in-phase estimate and the quadrature estimate, a phase baseline estimate of the sensor pixels.

Method and system for measuring a phase baseline estimate of an input device

A processing system for an input device comprises drive circuitry configured to generate a fixed voltage for a common voltage electrode of the input device during a display update period, and generate a sensing signal for the common voltage electrode during an input sensing period, the sensing signal having a duty cycle and a mean value, wherein the duty cycle minimizes a difference between the fixed voltage and the mean value. An input device comprises one or more common voltage electrodes and a coupled processing system. The processing system is configured to drive the one or more common voltage electrodes with a fixed voltage during a display update period, and a sensing signal during an input sensing period. The sensing signal has a duty cycle and a mean value, the duty cycle configured to minimize a difference between the mean value and the fixed voltage.

Display device having an integrated sensing device with reduced interference

A system and method for reducing electromagnetic interference of a display device. The display device may have a plurality of gate electrodes and a plurality of common electrodes. Further, the display device includes a processing system that is configured to drive a first gate electrode of a plurality of gate electrodes of the display device with a first gate select signal to select first subpixels for updating during a first period. The processing system further comprises driving a first common electrode proximate the first gate electrode with a reference signal during the first period. Further, the processing system is configured to drive a second common electrode with a first interference reduction signal during the first period to reduce the electromagnetic interference of the display device.

Display device having reduced interference

An input device includes a plurality of sensor electrodes and a processing system that is operable in at least a first mode or a second mode. The processing system is configured to receive an input current from a pair of the sensor electrodes. When operating the first mode, the processing system is configured to measure a capacitance across the pair of sensor electrodes based on the received input current. When operating the second mode, the processing system is configured to measure a resistance between the pair of sensor electrodes based on the received input current.
