The invention relates to a mechanical seal arrangement comprising a mechanical seal () having a rotating seal ring () and a stationary seal ring () defining a seal gap () therebetween, a secondary seal () arranged on a back surface of one of the seal rings facing away from a sealing surface of the seal ring, the secondary seal () being made of a base material and having a coating () such that a material bond is formed between the coating () and the base material of the secondary seal, the secondary seal () being made of a base material and having a coating () such that a substance-to-substance connection is formed between the coating () and the base material of the secondary seal, a sleeve-shaped member () arranged radially inside the secondary seal (), wherein a gap () having a gap height (H) is present between the sleeve-shaped component () and a region of one of the sliding rings facing radially inwards, the secondary seal () seals against the back side of this slide ring and the sleeve-shaped component (), wherein the coating () is provided on a first side () of the secondary seal (), which first side facing the sliding ring, and a second side () of the secondary seal () which second side facing the sleeve-shaped component (), wherein a stiffness of the coating () is greater than a stiffness of the base material of the secondary seal () and wherein a thickness (D) of the coating is smaller than or equal to a gap height (H) of the gap ().

Mechanical seal arrangement having an improved secondary seal

The present invention refers to an apparatus for rotationally fixing a seal ring () of a mechanical seal assembly retained at a mounting component () to be axially movable, comprising a force transmitting ring () retained at the mounting component to be axially movable and a rotation prevention device comprising at least one first engaging member () configured to engage with the mounting component and the force transmitting ring in a form-fit manner and at least one second engaging member () configured to engage with the force transmitting ring and the seal ring in a form-fit manner, the first engaging member being arranged circumferentially offset with respect to the second engaging member, characterized in that the engaging members () protrude axially from the force transmitting ring () or the seal ring () toward the respectively other component (seal ring or force transmitting ring) and are configured to be received in axial recesses () provided in the respectively other component with a play.

Apparatus for rotationally fixing a seal ring of a mechanical seal assembly axially movably retained at a mounting component

A mechanical seal assembly including at least one pair of co-operating seal rings, one of which is provided for common rotation with a rotating component and the other of which is provided rotationally fixed at a stationary component. One of the seal rings is axially movable and axially biased with a biasing force against the other seal ring, the biasing force being transmittable through a force transmitting ring to the respective seal ring, in order to bias facing sliding surfaces of the seal rings, between which a sealing gap is formed during operation, in a mutual sealing engagement, and a secondary sealing assembly provided at the force transmitting ring for sealing the axially movable seal ring with respect to at least one circumferential guiding surface of a guiding component guiding the movement of the seal ring and the force transmitting ring.
