This disclosure provides new parameters for discovery request messages and discovery response messages communicated between a Network Function (NF) consumer (an NFc) () and a Network Repository Function (NRF) () in a core network. The new parameters support the discovery and selection of one or more NF services to be consumed by the NFc. More particularly, when the NFc initiates a discovery request, it identifies a particular NF service type to consume to the NRF. Included in the discovery request message are the new parameters specifying a particular set of one or more quality metrics the NRF is to report to the NFc in the discovery response message. The quality metrics include the most current measurement values for the specified NF service, but may also include historical measurement values spanning a time duration that is specified by the NFc in the discovery request message.

Method for notification of network function producer (NFp) quality

The controlling network node initiates a setup of virtual resources for a VNF, wherein an aggregating connection point (CP), indicates a set of CPs to be connected to a same external virtual link. Controlling network node, and method performed therein

A Network Functions Virtualisation Management and Orchestration system, NFV-MANO, for managing resources in a Network Function Virtualisation Infrastructure, NFVI, has elements (NFVO, VNFM) for orchestrating and managing virtual resources to provide a network service and has an allocation element (VIM) for managing an allocation of physical resources for the virtual resources. One of the elements for orchestrating (NFVO, VNFM), obtains () information about which of the virtual resources could be affected by a planned adjustment of the allocation, and determines an impact () of the planned adjustment on a network service, based on this information. An indication based on the impact on the network service is sent () to the allocation element (VIM), which implements the planned allocation according to the indication. This can help enable a better trade off between allocation efficiency and quality of network service.

Managing planned adjustment of allocation of resources in a virtualised network

A technique for operating a system controller of a virtualized application cluster is presented. The cluster comprises one or multiple virtual machines. In a method embodiment the system controller receives, from outside the cluster, control information defining a function associated with a virtual machine. It further receives, from the virtual machine, a request message including an identifier of the virtual machine. The method also comprises determining, based on the identifier included in the request message, the function associated with the virtual machine and booting information associated with the function. The booting information is then sent in a response message to the virtual machine.

Technique for operating a system controller of a virtualized application cluster

A flexible and context-aware delivery scheme for uniform resource locators builds on a generic representation that can be used for whichever binary content is to be delivered to a client. It can also be applied to improve the network operations of a network operator, the user's perceived quality of experience, and the costs of a content provider that does not need to encode and support different codecs and transport mechanisms.

Techniques for allocation of a VLAN for a deployment by at least one VM provided on a host in a network. A VLAN manager is adapted to allocate a free physical VLAN identifier to the requested virtual VLAN identifier. The VLAN manager queries a VLAN mapping table for determining a free physical VLAN identifier. In case the physical VLAN identifier for the requested virtual VLAN identifier is in use, a procedure for determining the at least one free physical VLAN is performed. The determination procedure may be based on pre-defined zoning or it may apply a retagging after a free physical VLAN identifier has been calculated. The determined physical VLAN identifier is assigned to the requested VLAN. The VLAN switch devices are instructed about the assignment between the virtual and the physical VLAN identifier in order to apply the assignment of the data packets transported over the requested VLAN.

Technique for managing an allocation of a VLAN
