The present disclosure relates to extraction of probe motion estimates from acquired ultrasound image frames. Such image-extracted probe motion data can be used alone or in combination with sensed motion data, such as acquired using an inertial measurement unit (IMU). In certain implementations, the image-extracted probe motion can be used to provide or maintain anatomic context in a sequence of images or to provide guidance to a user.

Techniques for determining ultrasound probe motion

A cleaning system and method use an ultrasound probe, a coupling mechanism, and a controller to clean equipment of a vehicle system. The ultrasound probe enters into an engine. The ultrasound probe emits ultrasound pulses and the coupling mechanism provides an ultrasound coupling medium between the ultrasound probe and one or more components of the engine. The controller drives the ultrasound probe to deliver the ultrasound pulse through the coupling medium to a surface of the one or more components of the engine. The ultrasound probe delivers the ultrasound pulse to remove deposits from the one or more components of the engine.

Ultrasonic cleaning system and method

A method for X-ray imaging includes determining one or more pre-shot parameters corresponding to a region of interest in a subject based on an optical image of the region of interest obtained from an optical sensor. The method further includes controlling an X-ray device to generate a pre-shot X-ray image using a first X-ray dosage, based on the one or more-pre-shot parameters. The method also includes determining at least one main-shot parameter based on the pre-shot X-ray image. The method includes controlling the X-ray device to generate a main-shot X-ray image using a second X-ray dosage greater than the first X-ray dosage, based on the at least one main-shot parameter.

System and method for mobile X-ray imaging

The present approach generally relates to systems and methods for implementing energy modulated tomographic imaging of nanoparticles. In certain embodiments, a first energy is used to activate probe particles labeling an anatomy or tissue of interest. The probe particles, once activated, emit photons at a different rate and/or spectrum in response to an underlying physiological event, such as action potentials propagating in the labeled anatomy or tissue. The emitted photons may then be detected and used to map or image the occurrence of the physiological event.

Energy modulated luminescence tomography

A method and system for magnetically tracking a device of interest generating a plurality of pre-determined multi-frequency signals. The method and system transmits a plurality of magnetic fields from a transmitter circuit based on the corresponding pre-determined multi-frequency signals. The magnetic fields propagating through an area of examination encompassing the device of interest and a magnetic sensor coupled to the device of interest. The method and system generate a sensor signal at the magnetic sensor indicative of field strength of the magnetic fields transmitted by the transmitter circuit. Further, the method and system determine a position of the magnetic sensor relative to the transmitter circuit based on the multi-frequency signals and the sensor signal.

Magnetic tracker system and method for use for surgical navigation

There is set forth herein an apparatus comprising: a non-contacting array of sensors adapted for positioning at a position spaced from and proximate a position of a patient; and a signal processing circuit in communication with the array of sensors, wherein the signal processing circuit is configured for: generating a plurality of time varying signals using the array of sensors; processing the plurality of time varying signals; and outputting one or more indicator based on the processing. The apparatus can be adapted for use in a variety of applications including emergency applications such as live birth applications in which neonate resuscitation protocols are observed.

Non-contact heart rate monitoring

Systems and methods for navigation are presented. First and second response signals received from at least one magnetic sensor operatively coupled to a target device in response to a magnetic field are measured at reference and reversed sensitivity while an alignment of magnetic domains corresponding to the magnetic sensor remains unchanged. A useful portion of the first response signal is determined by eliminating common-mode noise from the first response signal based on a difference between the first and second response signals. Alternatively, a bias signal having a desired bias frequency is applied to shift a signal frequency of a response signal of a magnetoresistance sensor that includes common-mode noise. A useful portion of the response signal is determined by measuring the response signal at a shifted frequency that is a sum of the signal and bias frequencies. A position of the subject is then determined based on the useful portion.

Methods and systems for improved navigation

A system and method for providing a position and orientation sensor package having a reduced size in at least one dimension is disclosed. The position and orientation sensor package includes a dielectric substrate and a first magneto-resistance sensor chip attached to the dielectric substrate, the first magneto-resistance sensor chip including at least one magneto-resistance sensor circuit. The position and orientation sensor package also includes a second magneto-resistance sensor chip attached to the dielectric substrate and positioned adjacent the first magneto-resistance sensor chip, the second magneto-resistance sensor chip including at least one magneto-resistance sensor circuit. The position and orientation sensor package is constructed such that the at least one magneto-resistance sensor circuit of the first magneto-resistance sensor chip is oriented in a different direction than the at least one magneto-resistance sensor circuit of the second magneto-resistance sensor chip.

Systems and methods for screening of biological samples

A component includes a micro-hologram layer, where the micro-hologram layer includes layers inert to light interleaved with layers of functional film. The functional film layers are made of a material that undergoes a change in its refractive index when illuminated by a light beam, yet undergoes no change in its refractive index when illuminated by a different light beam. The components may further include interleaved spacer films with multiple micro-hologram layers and other elements (e.g., servo layer, coatings, and the like) so as to comprise a data storage device. Methods of manufacturing the component and device are also disclosed.

Stacked film threshold component, device, and method of manufacture

A data storage device includes a substrate layer, made of a moldable non-photopolymer plastic substrate and having a servo layer, adjoined to a stacked film structure that is constructed of multiple functional films, having data layers, with spacer film(s) disposed between each of the functional films. Methods of manufacturing the data storage device include using a roll-to-roll system to adhere thin spacer film extrusions between the multiple functional film extrusions so as to construct the stacked film structure. An additional method uses an application of functional film coating to thin spacer films and a roll-to-roll system.

A mid infrared range laser source for ultrasound inspection having a high energy laser coupled with one or more harmonic generation devices. The high energy laser may be a COlaser and tuned to emit laser light at a single wavelength. The harmonic generation devices convert the laser beam into the mid infrared range for optimal ultrasound inspection.

A compact high average power mid infrared range laser for ultrasound inspection. The laser comprises one of a Nd:YAG or Yb:YAG laser pumped by a diode at 808 nm to produce a 1 micron output beam. The 1 micron output beam is directed to an optical parametric oscillator where the beam wavelength is converted to 1.94 microns and conveyed to a mid infrared emission head. The emission head comprises one of a Ho:YAG or Ho:YLG laser optically coupled with a second optical parametric oscillator. The second optical parametric oscillator forms a generation output beam for creating ultrasonic displacements on a target. The generation output beam wavelength ranges from about 3 to about 4 microns, and can be 3.2 microns.

Mid-IR laser for generation of ultrasound

A method of spectroscopic analysis of a material using a laser ultrasound system. The method includes measuring amplitude displacement of a target surface that has been excited with a generation laser. The amplitude displacements relate to the target's optical absorption properties. Amplitude displacements are generated over a range of laser wavelengths to obtain an optical absorption signature useful to identify the target material characteristics.
