A method of preparing goods for transport is disclosed. A covering for the goods is provided that includes a wrap portion removably carried by a storage rack and a cap portion removably attached to the wrap portion, wherein the cap portion includes an attachment member. A force transmission member is secured to the attachment member of the cap portion and the cap portion is removed from the wrap portion. The force transmission member is moved to position the cap portion atop the goods. The wrap portion is removed from the storage rack, wrapped about the goods, and secured to the cap portion.

Covering and method of using the same

An outer box connector (OBC) () and methods (and) are shown and described. The OBC () can include: a body () having an outer surface () and an inner surface (); a first anchor () and a second anchor () extending inwardly from the inner surface (); a lever () extending substantially outwardly from the outer surface (), the lever () being connected to a distal portion () of the first anchor (); and the first anchor () including an unlocked condition () adapted for allowing insertion in and removal from a corner fitting () and a locked condition () for locking the first anchorwith a corner fitting (). Advantageously, the OBC () and methods allow simplified container handling and connection and disconnection, in transportation applications.

Outer box connector and method thereof

A distribution system () is disclosed. The system includes the steps of: providing () a multi-level pathfinder with a containment cavity having a ground level cell and an elevated level cell; configuring () the containment cavity to receive containers; and loading () the containment cavity with a first container and moving the first container vertically to allow a second loading of a second container. This system provides a simple, robust and efficient automatable buffer to load and unload, a container between a chassis and rail or port terminal and/or at distribution hub.

Distribution system

An inline terminal system (), which includes the steps of: (i) transporting () a first container with a cargo via an inbound railroad car to a terminal having a plurality of train rails; (ii) picking and placing () the first container from the railroad car to a track side location having at least one buffer in proximity to the plurality of train rails, including: (a) rotating the first container at an angle of at least ten or more degrees with respect to the train rails; and (b) positioning the at least one buffer substantially adjacent to the train rails, at the track side location, at an angle of at least ten or more degrees with respect to the train rails; and (iii) moving () the first container via a tractor truck to a desired location for unloading. This system provides a simple, robust and efficient method to load, and in the reverse unload, a container on a chassis or rail car, respectively.

Inline terminal, hub and distribution system

A transfer method () is disclosed. It includes: delivering () a container via a rail car on train rails to a terminal; assigning () a corridor as to where to deliver the container, the corridor including a plurality of pathways in proximity to a track side location, each pathway including a containment cavity configured to receive a first handoff of the container from a crane to a first pathway and provide a second handoff of the container from the first pathway to a hauler, the plurality of pathways being substantially adjacent, aligned and in parallel and being configured at an angle of about 15 degrees or more to the train rails; picking () with a crane the container from a rail car and placing the container in the containment cavity comprising the first handoff in the corridor; and handing-off the container in the containment cavity of a pathway to a hauler comprising the second handoff, for facilitating transporting the container from the terminal to a desired remote destination via a hauler. The method provides an efficient, effective and semi-automated post-blocking method, such that each post-blocked group of containers has a similar desired remote destination, so that the containers can be easily located, loaded, handed-off and transported to a desired location.

Hub and distribution system

A transfer method (100) is disclosed. It includes: transporting (102) with a motorized vehicle a container on a chassis and aligning the container with a buffer; raising (104) the container with a support structure comprising an elevator connected to the chassis, from a resting position to a lifted position a predetermined height above the chassis; entering (106) a containment cavity of the buffer while in the lifted position, the buffer including a container stand including shelves located on sides on the containment cavity, to allow travel in and out of the containment cavity, the shelves include movable support pads with a retracted position configured to allow unobstructed travel in and out of the containment cavity and an extended position configured to support a container with the movable support pads on the sides on the containment cavity.

A cargo blanket suspension system for a container comprises: a generally flat, horizontal framework of connected bars positioned within a cargo compartment of the cargo container. A cable system is connected to the framework to suspend the framework from or adjacent to the ceiling of the cargo compartment, to support a cargo blanket carried on the framework, and to permit raising and lowering of the framework and cargo blanket.

Temperature protection system for cargo trailers

An apparatus to secure a door of a cargo container. The apparatus includes a latching device and a cover can be positioned over at least a portion of the latching device. The latching device is positioned within a housing. At least one pad is positioned between the latch and the housing. The latching device includes a screw for moving the latch between an open position and a closed position and a rotary motor for turning the screw. A pre-compressed spring is coupled to the latch and the screw for exerting a force to Increase friction and prevent back rotation of the screw.

Security system for cargo trailers

A security system with a driver circuit for energizing a solenoid actuated locking device. The circuit can include a microprocessor, a battery power supply, a boosting circuit and an energy storage circuit. The battery voltage can be stepped up by the boosting circuit and the stepped up voltage can be stored in the energy storage circuit. A solenoid driver circuit including a plurality of transistors arranged in an H-bridge configuration supply energy from the storage circuit to the solenoid under control of the microprocessor. The security system can be retrofited or is factory installable, and is particularly adapted for roll down doors and enclosures.

Security system for roll down doors

A security system for roll-down loading doors, having: a substantially narrow profile housing adapted to being connected to a wall of a cargo carrying enclosure; an actuator having a key receptacle including a pivotable arm, for moving a latch structure between a locked position and an unlocked position; the latch structure being generally triangular with a top portion being hingably connected to the housing with a stationary pivot pin and the actuator being coupled by a linkage mechanism, the latch structure is adapted to be connected to a loading door of a cargo carrying enclosure when the latch structure is in the locked position and withdrawn from the door when the latch structure is in the unlocked position; and the linkage mechanism includes a distal section having a port and a proximal section having a second port, the distal section is coupled to a middle portion of the latch structure with a first pivot pin and the proximal section is coupled with the linkage mechanism with a second pivot pin, the linkage mechanism and pivotable arm define a substantially rigid link defined by the linkage mechanism and pivotable arm being substantially aligned when the latch structure is in the locked position and the linkage mechanism and pivotable arm being substantially perpendicular when the latch structure is in the unlocked position.

Security system for roll-down loading doors

A security system for cargo loading doors, comprising: a substantially narrow profile housing adapted to being connected to an inside of a cargo loading door; an actuator having a key receptacle, for moving a latch structure between a locked position and an unlocked position; the latch structure and the actuator being coupled by a linkage mechanism and plunger assembly, the latch structure is adapted to be at least partially received in a header of at least one of a cargo carrying enclosure, such as an ISO container, domestic container, semi-trailer and the like, when the latch structure is in the locked position and withdrawn from the header when the latch structure is in the unlocked position; and the linkage mechanism includes a distal section and a proximal section connected by a middle pivot pin, the distal section is coupled to the latch structure with an upper pivot pin and the proximal section is coupled with the plunger assembly, the proximal section is also pivotably connected to the housing with a stationary pivot pin, the linkage mechanism defines a simulated rigid link defined by the proximal section and distal section being substantially aligned when the latch structure is in the locked position.

Security system with improved lock assembly

A universal adapter (300) for a security system, having: a back plate (302) having a left portion (304) and a right portion (306); and positioning adapter plates (308,310) extending substantially outwardly from the left and right portions (304,306) of the back plate (302), the positioning adapter plates (308,310) having an adjustment structure, such as a first pair of ports (314) spaced in proximity to the back plate (302) and a second pair of ports (316) spaced away from the back plate (302) , adapted to adjustably receive a lock assembly of a security system in a first position proximate to the back plate and a second position away from the back plate. Also, the adapter can have a clamping structure (350) for holding a locking structure with respect to an inside of a cargo loading door.

Universal adapter for a security system

A retrofitable or factory installable security system (50) for cargo loading doors is disclosed. The system (50) has: a remote transmitter (52) for transmitting a radio signal; a receiver (54) for receiving the radio signal from the remote transmitter (52); an electro-mechanical actuator (56) coupled to the receiver (54) for moving a latching device (66) between a locked position and an unlocked position; and the lock assembly (58) has a housing (64) for holding the electro-mechanical actuator (56), the latching device (66) is pivotably connected to the housing (64), and a linkage mechanism (68) coupling the electro-mechanical actuator (56) and the latching device (66). The latching device (66) can be moved between the locked and unlocked positions.
