There is provided a bending mechanism for use in the fabrication of metal and other materials. The bending mechanism includes a clamping structure to secure the material to a supporting plate with the portion of the material to be bent projecting from the clamping structure. A bending plate is then brought into contact with the material and rotated about the edge of the supporting plate to bend the material to the desired angle. Multiple bending mechanisms can be utilized for longer and/or multiple bends of the material.

Material fabricating mechanism

A shear discharge conveying system including a plurality of individual conveying belt modules connectd to a main frame for easy repair and replacement. Impact bar assemblies are spaced between the modules to prevent sheared material from impacting directly on the belts. Rows of vertically extending and retracting gauging supports are adjustable to match the cut size, and tension links connected between the rows prevent the material from nosing down between supports. A scrap gripping and conveying mechanism moves strips of scrap transversely to the conveying direction directly behind the shear before the strips can contact and foul the conveyor. The main frame is mounted on air pads so a single operator can move the entire system to and from the shear.

Scrap material cut by a shear is gripped by a vertically and transversely movable scrap-gripping and conveying mechanism which feeds the strip generally parallel to the back side of the shear into a pinch roll drive. The scrap is then fed into a slot of a scroll spindle. The spindle is rotated, and the scrap wraps around the spindle into a compact cylindrical package. Once the scrap is entirely rolled on the spindle, the spindle is retracted by a cylinder, and the scrap is pushed off the end of the spindle and falls into a storage area.

A burning table including numerous upright copper support cylinders carried on a load-bearing steel grid to form a horizontal work surface. A high water level provides rapid cooling of the cylinders as the burning tool moves along the surface supported workpiece and eliminates pollution by quickly disintegrating slag. Individual cylinders are reversible in the grid for extended life, and damaged cylinders are easy and inexpensive to replace. The support cylinders are crowded on the grid for complete support of even relatively small parts. A hopper-shaped pan collects slag, and a vibrator causes the slag to move into a collection bin for quick and convenient removal.
