Devices for stacking sheet-fed paper or cardboard sheets (,) on pallets (,) are known to have a vertically stationary conveyor (,) at a height above the maximum stack level above the floor and a storage platform (,) which can be raised and lowered upon which the stacks are formed. An optical sensor (,) which senses the stack level is arranged at the input side prior to the stacking area to control the lowering of the storage platform (,). According to the invention, at least three optical sensors (,) are disposed below the conveyor level at a slight distance from each other in a vertical line. The maximum vertical distance between the two sensors (,) is 20 mm. By activating any two sensors (,), the drop in height of the sheets (,) can be set depending on the type of sheet and without the need for extensive adjustment upon a change in the type of sheet.

Device for stacking sheets, in particular sheet-fed paper or cardboard sheets delivered onto pallets

A method for stacking sheets has a conveyor having a downstream end spaced upstream in a horizontal transport direction from a stacking station for delivering the sheets continuously one after the other at a predetermined upper level in the direction to the station and a main platform vertically displaceable in the stacking station between an upper position below the upper level and a lower position. An auxiliary platform below the upper level is formed by a plurality of parallel rods horizontally displaceable in the direction between an extended position in the station above the main platform and a retracted position upstream of the main platform. A plurality of vertically extending separator elements having bent-over upper ends projecting downstream between the rods in the transport direction are and displaceable between a separating position projecting into the station between the auxiliary platform and the upper level and engaged between trailing edges of sheets and a withdrawn position out of the station between the station and the conveyor downstream end. Each element has a vertical length greater than the vertical distance between the auxiliary platform and the upper level.

An apparatus for stacking sheets has a conveyor having a downstream end spaced upstream in a horizontal transport direction from a stacking station for delivering the sheets continuously one after the other at a predetermined upper level in the direction to the station and a main platform vertically displaceable in the stacking station between an upper position below the upper level and a lower position. A moveable skid is provided to sense the height of a pallet fed to a raisable and lowerable platform. The skid determines the height of the pallet before it is fed to a raisable and lowerable platform of a sheet stacking apparatus so that the position of the pallet below an intermediate stacking platform can be determined during the pallet change. This prevents adverse effects by nondetrimental projections above the surface of the pallet and prevents an excessive drop of the intermediate stack as it is transferred to the pallet.

Apparatus for stacking sheets

A device for conveying and stacking sheets of paper has a first conveying unit receptive of sheets for stacking and a second conveying unit downstream of the first conveying unit for removing a stack and wherein the units include upper and lower belts. A single upper belt is associated with two lower belts for the two units and the upper belt is alternately coupled for movement with one or the other of the two lower belts at the same speed as the lower belt to which it is coupled to effect either the stacking of the sheets or the movement of the stack.

This is effected by providing a rod which connects the upper-tape deflection rollers, a separating shoe, ejector rolls, and a separating plate whereby they will all be transversely displaced together.
