A polycarbonate composition includes: 10 to 99 wt % of one or more bisphenol A polycarbonate homopolymers based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition; a poly(carbonate-siloxane) having a siloxane content of 30 to 70 wt %, preferably 35 to 65 wt %, based on the total weight of the poly(carbonate-siloxane), optionally wherein the poly(carbonate-siloxane) is a poly(carbonate-siloxane) elastomer, in an amount effective to provide a total siloxane content of 0.5 to 10 wt % based on the total weight of the polycarbonate composition; and wherein a sample of the composition has improved chemical resistance as compared to a reference composition.

Polycarbonate compositions having improved chemical resistance, articles formed thereof, and methods of manufacture

Thermoplastic compositions include: (a) from about 20 wt % to about 50 wt % post-consumer recycled polycarbonate (PCR-PC); (b) from about 5 wt % to about 25 wt % of a filler component; (c) from about 4 wt % to about 7 wt % of a phosphazene component; (d) from about 20 wt % to about 65 wt % of a polycarbonate copolymer component; and (e) from about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % one or more additional components. The polycarbonate copolymer component includes bisphenol-A and a monomer comprising one or more of 3,3-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-isoindol-1-one (PPPBP), 4-4-(3-3-5 trimethylcyclohexane-1-ldiyl)diphenol (BPI), 4,4′-(1-Methyl Ethyl) 1-3-cyclohexandiyl) Bis-Phenol (BHPM), 1,1-Bis(4-hydroxy-3-methyl phenyl) cyclohexane (DMBPC); 4-[1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)cyclododecyl]phenol (Red Cross), bisphenol based on cyclooctadiene, bisphenol based on isophorone nitrile, and combinations thereof. The thermoplastic composition exhibits improved heat properties, including but not limited to heat deflection temperature.

High heat polycarbonate compositions including recycled thermoplastic content

A composition includes specific amounts of a reinforcing filler and a copolycarbonate containing bisphenol A carbonate units and second carbonate units of the formula wherein R, R, R, R, j, p, and q are defined herein. The composition is useful for fabricating articles that exhibit a desirable balance of heat resistance, printability in large format additive manufacturing, and good surface appearance in printed parts. Also described is a method of additive manufacturing utilizing the composition.

Polycarbonate composition and associated article and method of additive manufacturing

A thermoplastic composition includes from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. A method of making a thermoplastic composition includes: (a) combining from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt % to form a mixture; and melt processing the mixture to polymerize it and form the thermoplastic composition.

Transparent and flexible blends of PMMA and polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer

A polycarbonate composition includes: a continuous polycarbonate phase; discontinuous first domains distributed in the continuous phase, and comprising a core-shell silicone-(meth)acrylate impact modifier comprising a silicone elastomer core and a (meth)acrylate copolymer shell, wherein the first domains have an aspect ratio of at least 1.7, preferably at least 1.8; and discontinuous second domains distributed in the continuous phase, and comprising an alkenyl aromatic-olefin block copolymer impact modifier, wherein the second domains have an aspect ratio of at least 3, preferably at least 4, and a domain size of 6400 square nanometers or less, more preferably 5700 square nanometers or less. Optionally, the polycarbonate composition includes: a polycarbonate; a brominated polycarbonate different from the polycarbonate; a poly(carbonate-siloxane) comprising 30 to 70 weight percent of siloxane blocks; a core-shell silicone-(meth)acrylate impact modifier comprising a silicone elastomer core and an (meth)acrylate copolymer shell; and an alkenyl aromatic-olefin block copolymer impact modifier.

Polycarbonate compositions, methods of manufacture, and methods of use

Thermoplastic compositions include: (a) from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); and (b) from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. Methods for making a molded article, include: (a) combining from about 30 wt % to about 95 wt % PMMA and from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt % to form a blend; (b) melt processing and pelletizing the blend; and (c) injection molding the article from the melt processed and pelletized blend.

Anti-drip compositions including transparent blends of PMMA and PC-siloxane copolymer

Thermoplastic compositions include: (a) a thermoplastic polymer including a polycarbonate component; (b) a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer; and (c) from 4 wt % to 25 wt % carbon black. The composition has a total siloxane content of from 2 wt % to 14 wt %. The thermoplastic compositions exhibit improved physical properties as compared to compositions that do not include the poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer, including volume resistivity, melt viscosity, impact strength, puncture impact energy and surface resistivity.

Electrically conductive polycarbonate-siloxane compositions

Thermoplastic compositions include: from about 62 wt % to about 99 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or copolymers thereof; and from about 1 wt % to about 38 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 25 wt % to about 45 wt %. The compositions are scratch resistant. Scratch resistance may be determined as comprising a scratch depth of less than 20 micron (&#x3bc;m) as measured in accordance with the Erichsen scratch hardness test at a force of 4 Newton (N). Articles including the thermoplastic composition are also described.

Scratch-resistant PMMA and polycarbonate siloxane copolymer compositions

A thermoplastic composition includes: from about 5 wt % to about 70 wt % poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA); from about 15 wt % to about 50 wt % of a first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer having a siloxane content of from about 35 wt % to about 45 wt %; and from about 10 wt % to about 45 wt % of a second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer. The second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer has a siloxane content of from about 15 wt % to about 25 wt % or from about 4 wt % to about 8 wt %.
