Flexible foam using polymer polyols produced via DMC catalyzed polyols

A process for transitioning a reactor from base-catalyzed polyol production to double metal cyanide (DMC)-catalyzed polyol production is described. The process includes discharging a base-catalyzed and un-neutralized product mixture from a reactor, and adding an acidified polyether polyol starter and DMC catalyst mixture to the reactor. A DMC-catalyzed polyol production reaction can then be conducted in the reactor without intermediate washing or rinsing of the reactor, and without catalyst deactivation from base or alkaline hold-up.

Process for transitioning reactors from base-catalyzed polyol production to DMC-catalyzed polyol production

This invention relates to a process for the production of a high purity polyether carbonate polyol. The high purity polyether carbonate polyols prepared by the process herein contain a low level of catalyst residues. The process adds diatomaceous earth to a polyether carbonate polyol to form a suspension, mixes the suspension for a specified time period at a specified temperature, and filters the suspension to form the high purity polyether carbonate polyol.

Process for purification of polyether carbonate polyols

This invention relates to novel polyol blends, a process for the production of foam with very low resistance to air flow from certain polyol blends and to the resultant foams produced from certain polyol blends. The polyol blends comprise one or more monofunctional polyethers having a hydroxyl number of less than 28; one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 20 to 240 and containing at least 50% of copolymerized oxyethylene; one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 47 to 300 and containing from 5 to 40% of copolymerized oxyethylene; and optionally, one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 10 to 45. This process of the invention comprises reacting one or more polyisocyanates, with an isocyanate-reactive component in the presence of at least one catalyst, at least one surfactant and at least one blowing agent. The isocyanate-reactive component comprises one or more monofunctional polyethers having a low hydroxyl number; one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 20 to 240 and containing at least 50% of copolymerized oxyethylene; one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 47 to 300 and containing from 5 to 40% of copolymerized oxyethylene; and optionally, one or more polyether polyols having a hydroxyl number of 10 to 45.

Process for the production of high air flow polyether foams and the foams produced by this process

This invention relates to novel polyol blends, a process for preparing foams with very low resistance to air flow from certain polyol blends and to the resultant foams.
