The present invention relates to a gas cleaning system for cleaning a gas stream containing carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, said gas cleaning system comprising: a pre-conditioning section (); a COremoval stage (); and a post-conditioning section (); said pre-conditioning section comprising at least two gas-liquid contacting devices () arranged upstream of the COremoval stage () with respect to the flow direction of the gas; and said post-conditioning section comprising at least two gas-liquid contacting devices () arranged downstream of the COremoval stage with respect to the flow direction of the gas. The present invention further relates to a method for cleaning a gas stream containing carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, said method including removing, at least partly, carbon dioxide from the gas stream in a carbon dioxide removal step by bringing the gas stream into contact with a liquid comprising ammonia; contacting the gas stream with liquid in at least two steps upstream of the carbon dioxide removal step; and contacting the gas stream with liquid in at least two steps downstream of the carbon dioxide removal step.

Flue gas treatment system

Systems and process for volatile degradation removal from amine plant wash water are provided. The systems and processes include a separation device disposed within a water circulation loop and configured to continuously remove at least a portion of the volatile degradation products from the wash solutions. The separation device can be configured for stripping, distillation, and/or extraction of the volatile degradation products from at least a fraction of the spent wash water. Optionally, a chemical agent can be reacted with the volatile degradation products to form heat stable salts for subsequent removal.

Systems and processes for removing volatile degradation products produced in gas purification

A method for combustion of a fuel and treatment of the resulting flue gas includes: combusting a fuel to produce a hot flue gas stream containing at least carbon dioxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO), bringing the flue gas stream into contact with solid calcium oxide (CaO) in a carbonation reactor operating at a temperature at which COin the flue gas reacts with CaO to form solid calcium carbonate (CaCO), heating CaCOin a calcination reactor operating at a temperature at which CaCOis converted to CaO and CO, and recirculating CaO formed in the calcination reactor back to the carbonation reactor. Heating can be at least partially effected by indirect heat exchange with hot flue gas from the combustion. Flue gas used for the indirect heat exchange can be subsequently subjected to dry desulfurization before it is brought into contact with CaO in the carbonation reactor.

Desulfurization in a regenerative calcium cycle system

A system for removing carbon dioxide from a flue gas stream is provided, the system comprising an absorber vessel configured to receive a flue gas stream, the absorber vessel comprising a first absorption stage configured to receive the flue gas stream and contact it with a first ionic solution, a second absorption stage configured to receive flue gas which has passed the first absorption stage and contact it with a second ionic solution, a first sump vessel, and a second sump vessel. Furthermore, a method for removing COfrom a flue gas stream containing COis provided, the method comprising the steps of a) contacting a flow of a first ionic solution comprising NHwith a flue gas stream to remove a first portion of COfrom the flue gas stream, b) collecting the used ionic solution from step a) in a first sump vessel, c) recycling ionic solution from the first sump vessel to step a), d) contacting a flow of a second ionic solution comprising NHwith the flue gas stream to remove a second portion of COfrom the flue gas stream, e) collecting the used ionic solution from step d) in a second sump vessel, and f) recycling ionic solution from the second sump vessel to step d).

A method for removal of CO2 from a flue gas stream, comprising the steps of: a) contacting a flue gas stream comprising CO2 with a first absorption liquid comprising NH3 such that the flue gas stream is depleted in CO2; b) contacting the flue gas stream depleted in CO2 of step a) with a second absorption liquid such that NH3 from the flue gas stream is absorbed in said second absorption liquid to form a flue gas stream depleted in CO2 and NH3; c) separating NH3 from the second absorption liquid such that a gas stream comprising NH3 is obtained; d) contacting said gas stream comprising NH3 separated in step c) with a third absorption liquid such that NH3 is absorbed in said third absorption liquid. Reabsorber for ammonia stripper offgas

A system is arranged to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from a gas stream by bringing the gas stream into contact with a circulating ammoniated solution stream such that CO2 is removed from the gas stream by the ammoniated solution stream. A method of removing non-volatile compounds from the circulating ammoniated solution stream includes: introducing a portion of the circulating ammoniated solution stream into a gas-liquid separating device; and separating the introduced ammoniated solution into an ammonia rich gas phase and a liquid phase comprising the non-volatile compounds; and reintroducing the ammonia rich gas phase into the circulating ammoniated solution stream.
