An optical sensor having a light source () and a structured front plate (), which expands the focused light beam () of the light source () at least in one direction. In one advantageous construction, the structure includes an array with several cylindrical lenses (). They are preferably constructed by hot stamping the surface the front plate (). The expanded light beam () is suitable, in particular, for detecting narrow objects () or edges. The light source () and the front plate () are each aligned relative to the sensor housing ().

Optical sensor, method for producing an optical sensor, and method for detecting an object with an optical sensor

An optical sensor () with a light beam () created by a pulsed primary light source (), which light beam is reflected at a surface () of an object and is recognized by a detector. In order to mask interfering effects, which might develop due to diffused light of the light beam (), a compensation light source () emits a light cone during station breaks in operation of the primary light source (), which includes the diffused light range of the light beam () of the primary light source (). In this way, objects within the diffused light area create a compensation light portion, which prevents the activation of the sensor output merely by the diffused light of the light beam ().

Optical sensor and method for suppressing faults by diffused light

A manually controlled sensor for authenticity identification of luminescent identification features on documents is described, in which the identification feature is illuminated with an excitation wavelength and may respond at a different wavelength, with the response wavelength being detected and evaluated by a radiation receiver. In order to improve the sensitivity and to comply with the safety at work regulations, a focused beam ( ), which is emitted from a beam source ( ), is converted by focusing optics ( ) in such a manner that a scanning bar ( ), which is approximately in the form of a line, is projected on the surface of the object ( ) to be investigated, which causes the identification region ( ) which is arranged on the object ( ) to fluoresce in a luminescent manner in at least one subregion, and the luminescence signal produced in this way is passed via detection optics ( ) to an evaluation unit ( ), which evaluates the luminescence signal. The sensor is intended to be classified in laser class A.

Handsensor for authenticity identification of signets on documents

For the detection of&mdash;or for the determination of the position of edges (K) of objects (G), a light source/sensor device arrangement in the manner of a light barrier is utilized, in which the light beam generated by the light source (,) is focussed to a light line (,) in an object plane (O). Foreseen furthermore are devices for the generation of a relative movement between the light beam and edges (K) to be detected or objects (G), in such a manner, that edges (K) to be detected are moved in the object plane (O) and in doing so are aligned parallel to the light line (,). In particular for the detection of edges (K) of transparent objects (G), sensor devices (,) in a receiving zone (B) are equipped in such a manner, that they measure not only light intensities in the area of the axis (A) of the light beam, but also intensities of light, which is deflected from the light beam by an edge (K) in the object plane (O) positioned transverse to the light line (,). By means of the optical local redundancy in the object plane (O) and/or in the receiving zone (B), a higher precision and a reduced susceptibility to errors in the detection&mdash;or in the determination of the position of edges (K) are achieved.

Process and device for the detection or determination of the position of edges

In an edge detector process, a working plane (A) is scanned by a focussed light beam, e.g. a laser beam emitted by a light source (L) projected at an angle of typically 40.degree. to 45.degree. from the working plane. A first and a second detector (D1, D2) receive the scattered light from the working plane. The first detector (D1) is positioned behind a focussing imaging optics (0), such as an off-axis parabolic mirror, which is arranged coaxially, i.e. all round the laser beam, or is positioned below the emitted light beam relative to a main working plane (H). The second detector (D2) is positioned approximately over the light spot produced by the emitted light on the main working surface. The stray light measured by the first detector (D1) is therefore received at an angle to the main working plane, which is equal to or smaller than the angle between the emitted light and said plane. An apparatus according to the invention has imaging optics (0) and one of the detectors is positioned in such a way that it measures scattered measured light along the main axis of the incident laser beam or at an angle which is smaller than that between the main laser light axis and the main working plane.
