A joint replacement system that includes an acetabular cup implant that has an outer surface, a drill bit that has a cutting surface, and a guide separately formed from the acetabular cup implant. The guide has a body that defines first and second guide openings each adapted to receive the drill bit. The system also includes void filler prosthesis that has an implant facing surface and first and second portions connected to the implant facing surface. The first and second portions each have an outer surface that has a geometry corresponding to the cutting surface of the drill bit such that the first and second portions can be received in respective openings in a bone formed by the drill bit.

Joint replacement augments and associated instrumentation

A method of augmenting a bone defect in proximity to an acetabulum, comprising: implanting an acetabular cup implant into a bone; after implanting the acetabular cup implant, driving a drill bit into the bone so as to form a first void having a geometry corresponding to that of the drill bit; and inserting a void filler into the void formed by the drill bit such that a portion of the void filler is in a working relationship with the acetabular cup implant and another portion of the void filler is disposed within the void.

An assembly for attachment to a first implant component has a size and shape of a second implant component to be implanted together with the first implant component. The assembly includes a first body including a plug having a projection, and a second body including a recess having an internal surface defining at least one indentation. In a temporary configuration, when the plug is disposed within the recess and the projection is disposed at least partially within one of the at least one indentations, the first and second bodies are removably connected such that the first and second bodies are prevented from separating. A method of assembling the assembly includes removably connecting the plug of the first body into the recess of the second body by locating the projection within an indentation, such that the bodies are prevented from separating, and positioning the assembly on the first implant component.

Modular femoral trialing system having adjustable height

Tools and methods for implanting hip resurfacing femoral prostheses along a path defined by the axis of a shaped femoral head surface are described. The prostheses are stemless partial ball components having an outer surface shaped to conform to an acetabular socket and may be a two part design having a mating sleeve component with an internal bore adapted to receive the shaped femoral head. The tools and methods are capable of accurately implanting both one and two piece ball components and sleeves without requiring the prosthesis to have a central stem or the preparation of a stem cavity in the femoral head and neck.

Method and apparatus for hip femoral resurfacing tooling

An acetabular shell or cup removal instrument is disclosed. The instrument includes a first end capable of being received within an acetabular cup and a cutting element pivotally attached. Cutting motion is provided to the instrument by a powered handpiece, so that the cutting element is capable of cutting a bone surface adjacent to an outer surface of the acetabular cup when the first end is within the acetabular cup.

Acetabular shell removal instrument

A surgical cutting tool for cutting a seating surface of curved contour configuration in natural bone for receiving a component of a prosthetic implant at an implant site. The tool has cutting blades in a cutting blade construct placed within an arbor such that the cutting blades are supported by the arbor circumferentially spaced from one another, with cutting edges of the cutting blades exposed for cutting the seating surface. Stabilizers along the arbor stabilize the tool during a cutting operation, while channels in the arbor along the cutting blades carry away cut bone. The cutting blades are essentially flat, are economically manufactured from flat stock, are provided with a predetermined thickness and a cutting blade radius, and include cutting edges placed within the cutting blade construct circumferentially forward of the cutting blade radius to establish a gap between the cutting blade radius and a corresponding radius of the seating surface for providing an effective cutting profile along each cutting edge.

Surgical cutting tool

A toy gun is operated by water under pressure, supplied from a conveniently available source of water under pressure, such as a garden hose connected to a municipal water supply, a household water supply, or a similar source of water under pressure, to launch a projectile, such as a water-filled balloon, along, and preferably through, the barrel of the gun. The projectile is coupled with a firing chamber, preferably by being placed in the firing chamber, adjacent the barrel, and water under pressure is admitted to an actuator for actuating an air compressor which, in turn, creates compressed air that is accumulated in an air chamber and then selectively released to the firing chamber to launch the projectile from the barrel.

Water-powered toy guns and method

An apparatus for preparing the femur of a patient to receive a prosthesis is disclosed. A support is mountable in the recess and is shaped for mounting the first insert on the support. The insert is shaped for guiding pivoting of a post in a direction for reaming the recess.
