A digital printing machine includes a first cylinder for transporting sheets, a second cylinder for transferring the sheets directly to the first cylinder, a third cylinder for transferring the sheets directly to the second cylinder, and at least one inkjet print head directed towards the first cylinder for printing on the sheets disposed thereon. At least one first sensor measures the temperature of the first cylinder, a second sensor measures the temperature of the sheets while being transported by the second cylinder or by the third cylinder, and at least one temperature control device controls the temperature of the sheets prior to their transfer to the first cylinder. A control element adapts the temperature of the sheets to the temperature of the first cylinder. The first sensor, the second sensor and the temperature control device are connected to the control element.

A digital printing machine includes at least one print head for inkjet printing, a drum for transporting printing material, and a spittoon for collecting ink coming from the print head. The drum has a mounting for the spittoon. The spittoon includes a support and an absorber fixed thereto. The absorber is quasi flush with the outer circumference of the drum, and the support and the absorber together form a replaceable disposable unit. A spittoon for use in a digital printing machine is also provided.

A delivery drum includes at least one supporting shell for supporting a printed sheet and for producing a vacuum region between the supporting shell and the printed sheet. The supporting shell extends over the entire width of the printed sheet. A circumferential length, which is at least one quarter of the sheet length of the printed sheet, is disposed between the sheet start of the printed sheet and the start of the vacuum region.

An apparatus for conveying a sheet includes a control device for the position of the sheet and a sensor connected to the control device for detecting an electric field present on the sheet. The method and apparatus permit the sheet to be guided with small deviations from the desired path.
