An energy dissipation system for a vehicle, the energy dissipation system comprising an air compressor comprising a compressor inlet configured to receive ambient air, an electric motor comprising a rotor having a rotor shaft operatively connected to a compressor shaft of the air compressor, power electronics arranged in a power electronics housing, the power electronics being electrically connected to the electric motor and configured to feed electric power to the electric motor, and an air flow channel through which the ambient air is configured to be fed to the compressor inlet, the air flow channel being formed by an inner elongated tube member and an outer elongated tube member, wherein the electric motor is housed within the inner elongated tube member and attached to a first inner surface, and wherein the power electronics housing is attached to a second outer surface.

Vehicle energy dissipation system using air compressor and electric motor arrangement

An electric energy dissipating system for a vehicle. An air flow producing unit provides a pressurized air flow through a fluid conduit. A polyphase electric machine runs on a predefined number of phases. The air flow producing unit is mechanically connected to, and operated by, the electric machine. An electric brake resistor arrangement is located downstream of the air flow producing unit, and comprises one resistor unit for each one of said phases. An electric power system is configured to receive electric power generated by an electric traction motor during braking of the vehicle. The power system comprises an inverter which converts a DC input into a polyphase AC output. The electric machine and the resistor arrangement are electrically connected to the inverter in parallel, such that each phase of the AC output of the inverter is connected to a respective phase of the electric machine and to a respective resistor unit, in parallel.

Electric energy dissipating system for a vehicle

An air cooled resistor arrangement comprising a first elongated tube member forming a first air flow channel and a second elongated tube member forming a second air flow channel, wherein the first elongated tube member is at least partly housed inside the second elongated tube member. An exhaust gas pressure regulator for a combustion engine includes a regulator housing and an inner diffuser assembly arranged inside the regulator housing so that an exhaust gas flow duct is formed between an inner surface of the regulator housing and an outer surface of the inner diffuser assembly. The inner diffuser assembly includes a front portion and a regulating piston that is moveable relative to the front portion and the regulator housing between an idle position in which the exhaust gas flow duct is open, and a pressurized position in which the regulating piston at least partly closes the exhaust gas flow duct. The inner diffuser assembly includes at least one throttled flow passage between the gas flow duct and an exhaust gas pressure chamber defined by the regulating piston and an interior surface of the front portion.

Exhaust gas pressure regulator for a combustion engine

A turbocompound unit includes a bearing housing and a turbine shaft being rotatably supported in the bearing housing, wherein one end of the turbine shaft is provided with a turbine wheel. The turbocompound unit further includes a diffuser duct in which the turbine wheel is arranged to rotate, an exhaust collector extending from the diffuser duct to an exhaust outlet, and a sealing arrangement positioned in the vicinity of the turbine wheel for preventing oil from escaping from the bearing housing to the diffuser duct. The exhaust collector forms part of a buffer gas duct that is arranged to supply exhaust gas from the exhaust collector to the sealing arrangement for pressurizing the sealing arrangement.
