A multi-stage ejector for generating a vacuum from a source of compressed air or fluid by passing the compressed air or fluid through a series of nozzles, accelerating and entraining the compressed air or fluid so as to form a jet flow in one or more stages and generate a vacuum across each stage. The multi-stage ejector may include a first drive stage; a second stage; and a converging-diverging nozzle provided in the series of nozzles between the first drive stage and the second stage. The multi-stage ejector, in use, may receive jet flow from the first drive stage, accelerate the jet flow to form a second stage air jet and direct the second stage air jet into an inlet of an outlet nozzle of the second stage. The converging-diverging nozzle may be formed in a molded nozzle piece mounted in the multi-stage ejector.

A multistage ejector is provided for generating a vacuum from a source of compressed air. The compressed air is passed through a series of nozzles, which entrains air so as to form a jet flow in two or more stages and generating a vacuum across each stage. The ejector outlet is formed as a nozzle extending to the outlet end of the ejector and arranged to receive the jet flow from the final stage of the ejector. The ejector outlet nozzle includes a diverging section extending at an angle of divergence to the direction of airflow, the diverging section terminating in a stepwise expansion in the cross-sectional flow area, as viewed in a direction perpendicular to the direction of airflow through the ejector outlet nozzle.

The invention provides an ejector for generating a vacuum, a drive nozzle for generating a drive jet of air from a compressed air source and directing the drive jet of air into an outlet flow passage at the outlet of a drive stage of the ejector to entrain air in a volume surrounding the jet of air into the jet flow to generate a vacuum across the drive stage. The drive nozzle substantially consists of an inlet flow section and an outlet flow section aligned in a direction of air flow through the nozzle. The outlet flow section diverging in the direction of airflow, from an outlet end of the inlet flow section to an exit of the nozzle, the outlet flow section having a shape which is more divergent near the outlet of the inlet flow section and less divergent near the exit of the nozzle.

The present invention relates to handling devices for handling foodstuffs, which may include a suction cup and a docking piece supporting the suction cup. The suction cup may be removably attached to the docking piece. The docking piece may include a drive nozzle inserted into the suction cup, and attached to the docking piece, for ejecting a fluid from the drive nozzle inside of the suction cup. The suction cup may include a drive opening for receiving the drive nozzle of the docking piece, and an outlet nozzle having at least one constriction. The outlet nozzle is aligned with the drive nozzle so that the drive nozzle and the outlet nozzle cooperate to form an ejector. The ejector then applies a suction force to the surface of the foodstuff which is to be handled.

A vacuum ejector device () for generating at least partial vacuum to be supplied to a gripping member (), comprising a device body () having an elongated shape along a longitudinal axis A. A movable sealing and venting element () is provided and is structured to selectively substantially close and seal, in a sealing position, a vacuum duct () when the air supply is activated, and to open or vent said vacuum duct to release or vent via a venting duct (), in a venting position, the vacuum within the gripping member () when the vacuum source or air supply is deactivated. The sealing and venting element () is arranged essentially at the longitudinal axis A, and that the venting duct () is arranged and provides for fluid communication between the sealing and venting element () and a venting outlet port () provided at a long side of said elongated device body ().

An ejector system includes a primary ejector in a drive stage and a booster ejector connected in parallel with the primary ejector for simultaneously generating a vacuum across a booster stage. The booster ejector may be configured to generate a vacuum to a lower pressure in the booster stage than in the primary ejector in the drive stage. The booster stage and the drive stage may be connected to a common volume to be evacuated and a valve may be provided to close the connection between the drive stage and the volume to be evacuated when the pressure in the volume to be evacuated falls below the minimum pressure that can be generated in the drive stage.

A bellows insert () is shown, mountable inside a bellows for a vacuum powered tool and, in the mounted position, effective to locally limit the capacity of the bellows of compression in its longitudinal direction caused by a negative pressure introduced into the bellows. An ejector device adapted to generate a negative pressure with compressed air, which via a compressed-air duct is fed to an ejector, the device including a valve member arranged in the compressed-air duct and controllable in order to, in the open position, allow flow of compressed air to the ejector, an air suction duct arranged between the ejector and a gripping member driven by negative pressure, and a vent valve fluidly arranged with the air suction duct and that, in an open position, places the gripping member in communication with the atmosphere. The valve member embraces: a primary valve arranged in the direction of flow of compressed air; a secondary valve arranged downstream of the primary valve; a flow section of compressed-air duct between the primary and secondary valve, the vent valve communicating with the flow section so that, in the open position of the primary valve, is continuously being subjected to a closing air pressure, independently of the open or closed position of the secondary valve.

A vacuum generator driven by compressed air and arranged to supply vacuum to a vacuum gripper element, wherein a chamber () is associated with the vacuum generator and arranged to be brought in flow connection () with the vacuum gripper element via a valve () which is actuated by overpressure accumulated in the chamber to open the connection () to the vacuum gripper element in order to discharge the overpressure to the vacuum gripper element in result of interruption of the compressed air flow (P). The vacuum generator is characterized in that the chamber () in addition includes a flow connection () with the ambient atmosphere, and in the additional flow connection () a one-way valve () which is arranged to open the connection () with the atmosphere in result of the air pressure in the chamber () falling below the atmospheric pressure.

A suction cup for a tool driven by vacuum is presented, the suction cup in a first or upper end arranged to be brought into fluid flow communication with a vacuum source and in its opposite end arranged to be brought tightly into contact with the surface of an object to be handled. The suction cup is in its lower end arranged to be coupled to a sealing ring having a sealing surface arranged between an outer periphery and a through-opening defined by an inner periphery, and the sealing ring in the region of its inner periphery having a lip arranged to engage with the suction cup, to which purpose the suction cup in its lower end has a circumferentially running groove) in which the peripheral region and the lip of the sealing ring is insertable under form fitting engagement and in a radially overlapping relation between the groove and the lip in the region (r) of engagement.

An ejector device effective to generate a negative pressure by element of compressed air fed to an ejector of the device via a compressed-air duct includes an air suction duct, a pressure sensor and an electrically activatable valve member arranged in the compressed-air duct for regulating the flow of compressed air to the ejector, as well as electrically supplied control electronics () adapted to actuate the valve member in response to the pressure in the air suction duct detected by the sensor. The device includes an accumulator by which the control electronics are supplied with electricity, and a generator, which via a charging air duct (), is in flow communication with the compressed-air duct and is driven by compressed air for generating electrical energy, which is brought into the accumulator for charging the same.

According to the invention, a vacuum pump is disclosed comprising a screw-rotor pump having a compression section () and an expansion section (), and wherein a discharge () from the compression section communicates with at least one ejector () for discharge of compressed gas through the ejector, and wherein the expansion section () is connectable via a first valve means (), to a drive-gas source (P) for operating the screw,-rotor pump and the ejector in parallel. Also, a method for providing sub-pressure to an industrial process is disclosed wherein at least one ejector () is used initially to reduce the pressure to a predetermined lower level, from where the pressure is further reduced by means of a screw-rotor pump () that is arranged to operate through, and in parallel with the ejector.

A vacuum operated lifting apparatus includes a piston having a pressure side and a suction side, respectively, and being movably received in a cylinder, wherein a piston shaft projects through a bottom of the cylinder from the pressure side of the piston and having a through passage for connecting the piston pressure side with the atmosphere. An axially compressible space is connected to a vacuum source for evacuation of the chamber and sealed in air-tight attachment to the piston suction side, the space being confined within the wall of a flexible bellows.
