A child-resistant package that includes a wide mouth blown glass container or blow molded plastic container, and a molded thermoplastic closure that is affixed to the finish portion of such container. The finish portion of the container has a radially outwardly projecting flange at the bottom portion of such finish portion, and this flange has a notch in its outer periphery. The closure has a flexible projection that extends outwardly and downwardly from the skirt of the closure, and a portion of this projection engages the notch in the flange of the finish to prevent the turning of the closure on the finish. The projection of the closure can be manipulated by hand to remove the portion of the projection that engages the notch in the container finish to disengage the closure projection from the container finish notch, to permit the removal of the closure from the container. In one embodiment, the closure is normally retained on the container finish by means of a snap-on bead that projects inwardly from the closure skirt and engages a locking bead that projects outwardly from the container finish. In an alternative embodiment, the container finish is provided with an outwardly projecting helical thread, and the closure is provided with an inwardly projecting helical thread that engages the helical thread of the container finish.

Child-resistant package

A dispensing closure valve comprising a stem having an annular wall defining an opening. The dispensing closure valve includes a closure including an outer annular wall, an inner annular wall and an integral portion connecting the inner and outer annular walls at the outer end of the closure. The inner annular wall has a transverse wall. The inner wall and transverse wall having a sufficiently thin cross section such that they will flex. A tab integral with the transverse wall extends outwardly from the inner surface thereof for flexing the transverse wall extends outwardly from the inner surface thereof for flexing the transverse wall and inner wall to permit fluid to flow from the opening of said stem. Interengaging portions are provided between the tab and the closure body which are operable upon movement of the tab to open the valve to hold the valve in open position.

Dispensing closure valve

A liquid-tight child-resistant package that includes a glass or plastic container of the wide mouth type (i.e., with a container finish 'T' dimension of at least 33 millimeters) and a complementary molded thermoplastic closure that utilizes a separate disk-type liner. The closure which, with the exception of the separate liner, is molded in one piece, has a multiple helical thread start, and each closure thread has a vertically extending shoulder on its upper side. Each complementary container finish thread has a vertically extending shoulder that engages the corresponding shoulder on the closure, after the partial unscrewing of the closure, to prevent further unscrewing of the closure until the closure is vertically depressed on the container finish, against the spring action of the closure liner, to separate the shoulder on the closure thread from the shoulder on the container thread and to thereby permit continuation of the unscrewing of the closure until it can be removed from the container. The container also has a series of threadlike projections below the container threads and the closure thread is received in helical slots between the container threads and the threadlike projections. The threadlike projections help to positively lift the closure off the container finish during the opening of the container.

Lined child-resistant closure for widemouth liquid container

A child-resistant package that includes a wide mouth blown glass container or blow molded plastic container, and a molded thermoplastic closure that is affixed to the finish portion of such container. The finish portion of the container has a radially outwardly projecting flange at the bottom portion of such finish portion, and this flange has a notch in its outer periphery. The closure has a flexible projection that extends outwardly and downwardly from the skirt of the closure, and a portion of this projection engages the notch in the flange of the finish to prevent the turning of the closure on the finish. The projection of the closure can be manipulated by hand to remove the portion of the projection that engages the notch in the container finish to disengage the closure projection from the container finish notch, to permit the removal of the closure from the container. In one embodiment, the closure is normally retained on the container finish by means of a snap-on bead that projects inwardly from the closure skirt and engages a locking head that projects outwardly from the container finish. In an alternative embodiment, the container finish is provided with an outwardly projecting helical thread, and the closure is provided with an inwardly projecting helical thread that engages the helical thread of a container finish.

A molded thermoplastic linerless or self-sealing closure for use with a small container having a thin and accurately formed finish, such as a disposable glass or plastic culture tube. The closure has a top panel and an integrally formed depending annular skirt, and the annular skirt has an inwardly projecting helical thread to permit the closure to be screwed onto and off of a container with a threaded finish. The closure top panel has a thick central portion which is depressed below the top of the closure skirt and a thin annular portion that extends radially outwardly and upwardly from the central portion to the top of the closure skirt. The underside of the closure engages the rim of the container in a pocket formed by the annular portion and the annular skirt, and seals partially on the top of the rim and partially on the inside of it, with the thinness of the annular portion contributing to the deformability of the closure to help provide the required seal with the container.

Self-sealing closure for small containers

The tamper indicating package comprising a container having a neck, a closure interengaged with the container, and a tamper indicating device comprising a plurality of radially extending legs adapted to extend radially outwardly and axially about the closure. The legs are joined to one another at their inner ends and an integral annular band joins the other ends of the legs. The band extends beneath the flange of the container when the device is applied over the closure on the container, and the legs are made of a material such that the band will snap and/or shrink radially inwardly after application of the device to a position beneath the flange of the container thereby providing a tamper indicating device.

Tamper indicating package

A tamper indicating package comprising a container having a body portion and a neck portion having external threads thereon and a plastic closure having a top wall and a peripheral skirt having internal threads adapted to engage the threads on the neck of the container. A tamper indicating band extends downwardly from said skirt and is connected by a plurality of integral bridge portions to the skirt of the closure. The annular bead on the container and the radial bead on the tamper indicating band have interengaging portions which are operable during unthreading of the closure to shear the bridge portions. Some of the bridge portions are shaped to readily withstand the forces encountered in applying the closure and other of the bridge portions are shaped to be readily severed in removing the closure.

A tamper indicating package comprising a container having a body portion and a neck portion having external threads thereon and a closure having a top wall and a peripheral skirt having internal threads adapted to engage the threads on the neck of the container. A tamper indicating band extends downwardly from said skirt and an integral weakened portion interconnects the band to the skirt. The container has an annular bead spaced below the threads on the neck and a radially inwardly extending bead adapted to engage the annular bead on the container when the closure is threaded on the container. The annular bead on the container and the radial bead on the tamper indicating band having interengaging portions which are operable during unthreading of the closure to shear the bridge portions.

A tamper indicating package comprising a container having a neck finish with a large opening and threads on the exterior thereof, and an annular bead spaced axially from the threads and away from the open end of the container and a plastic closure having a top wall and a peripheral skirt formed with interrupted threads adapted to engage the threads on the container and an integral tamper indicating band on the periphery of the skirt connected thereto by an internal groove which defines a weakened line and having an interrupted radially extending bead adapted to engage the bead on the container. The bead on the tamper indicating band is interrupted along the same axial plane as the threads on the skirt so that the tamper indicating band is without a bead in substantially the same areas as the portions of the skirt are without threads.

Tamper indicating package with large diameter opening

A child resistant package comprising an open-mouth plastic container and a closure. The container has a plurality of circumferentially spaced projections extending radially outwardly adjacent the open end thereof, each projection having a shoulder facing downwardly in one circumferential direction. A closure has a top panel and an annular skirt depending from the periphery of the top panel and a plurality of radially inwardly extending and circumferentially spaced locking lugs on the inner surface of the skirt. The locking lugs are adapted to engage the shoulders in the projections on the container. The closure has a liner sealingly engaging the open end of the container and extending downwardly into sealing engagement with the inner surface of the upper open end of the container. The closure has at least one cam lug positioned on the inner surface of the skirt such that it is positioned between projections when the closure is on the container and the locking lugs are in engagement with the projections. The cam lug has an inclined surface operable when an axial force is applied to the closure and the closure is rotated in a direction to disengage the locking lugs from the projections so that continued rotation of the closure will cam the closure axially upwardly disengaging the closure from the container.

Child resistant package

A container for storing various medical supplies such as bandages and gauze pads is provided which includes improved means for orienting the closure relative to the main body and locking the closure in place. The container includes a closure and a main body portion joined by a live hinge such that the closure engages the main body in a flush-like manner. The closure includes an improved rib and lug assembly which engages a complementarily-shaped slot in the main body front wall thereby orienting the closure relative to the main body and locking the closure in the closed position.

Unitary container with improved lid orientation and locking means

A plastic container for storing articles such as surgical pads, gauze pads or bandages comprising a generally rectangular, upstanding hollow main body and a hinged closure. The main body includes at least one slotted portion along the rear wall with an irregularly shaped crossbar extending there across. A plastic, generally rectangular, hollow closure is attached to the main body by a hinge of complementary geometry to the crossbar. The hinge includes at least one straight rigid downwardly depending leg spaced apart from a hinge back. The hinge back includes a downwardly depending flexible web portion terminating in a jaw-like inwardly curving crossbar engaging portion.
