Systems and methodologies are described that provide a low cost, compact and easily manufacturable multiple-input, multiple-output antenna structure suitable for portable radio equipment. Multiple antenna elements are printed on a folded flexible material. The flexible material expands when the antenna structure is deployed for operation and collapses when stowed.

MIMO self-expandable antenna structure

Antennas and methods of manufacturing and using antennas suited for use in mobile devices are described. The described antennas include an antenna arm ( ) and a conical spring radiating element ( ) attached to one end of the arm. The spring radiating element ( ) is covered by a protective cap ( ) and can be compressed to fit inside the cap ( ) for easy storage in a PC card. The antenna arm ( ) may be implemented as a layered circuit board. In some embodiments the antenna arm ( ) includes a radiating element, e.g., a conductive strip ( ), positioned along an edge of the arm ( ) which will remain exposed even when the antenna is inserted into a PC card for storage. In various embodiments the spring radiating element ( ) automatically extends when the antenna arm ( ) is switched from a storage position to an active position, e.g., by pulling on the antenna arm to cause it to slide or swing out of a housing ( ).

Movable antenna for wireless equipment

A system for determining the location of a mobile station in a cellular communications network, comprising a plurality of locator units fixedly positioned for tracking and measuring communications between a base station and a mobile station initiating an emergency communication, each locator unit comprising a receiving means for monitoring a control channel of the base station for detecting and receiving identifying information including an assigned voice channel associated with the particular mobile station initiating said emergency communication, a storage means for storing the identifying information associated with the to emergency communication, a controller means for tuning the receiving means to the assigned voice channel associated with the emergency communication for receiving voice and control channel data between the base station and the mobile station, a transmission means operable in a first mode responsive to the receiving means and the controller means for initiating a second communication to a monitor unit based on the stored identifying information, the second communication occurring further including data indicative of the signal strength as a function of distance of the mobile station relative to the particular locator unit, wherein the monitor unit is responsive to the plurality of locator units for receiving the second communication from each locator unit and determining and tracking the position of the mobile station based on the received signal strengths and the known positions of the fixed locator units.

Mobile station position tracking system for public safety

A system for interception of digital cellular phone communication which is required by Communication Assistance for Law Enforcement Agency CALEA. The system includes a plurality of wide area networks which control the transmission of voice, data, file and other types of messages in a reconfigured exchange area, each area network including a plurality of air interface Base Station (BS) controlled by a central regional service point Mobile Switch Center (MSC) which is connected to an activator unit. The activator is a computer based system controlled by microprocessor and having database for permanently and temporarily storing predetermined cellular phone subscribers information and messages from and intendant for selected end users. The activator communicates with other wide area network via a physical communication network which provides communication links between the networks and the end users whether wireless or wired.

System for interception of digital cellular phone communication

An antenna for use with portable radio and telephone equipment includes a main radiator and a shield plate. One end of the shield plate is attached to the outer conductor of a coaxial cable abutting the shield plate. The main radiator is attached to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable a predetermined distance away from the shield plate. The main radiator and shield plate are mounted inside an antenna housing. The shield plate includes a head section having a pair of deformable tabs forming a positioning clip for holding the outer conductor of the coaxial cable. The inner conductor of the coaxial cable extends beyond the positioning clip for attachment to the main radiator.
