The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for determining the concentration of an analyte in a body fluid, where the following measures are proposed: providing a layered test element () including an enzyme-based chemistry layer which is responsive to the analyte by a color change, applying a sample of the body fluid onto the test element (), detecting by means of a photometric reflectance measuring device () a reflectance value of the test element (), correcting the measured reflectance value by a predetermined offset value attributed to the test element (), determining a concentration value of the analyte using the offset-corrected reflectance value.

Method and apparatus for determining the concentration of an analyte in a body fluid

Methods are provided for producing disposable diagnostic test elements and monitoring a property thereof, where such methods include detecting X-ray fluorescent (XRF) signals of one or more metallic components in a composite of first and second layers applied to a substrate using XRF spectrometry, determining a quantity value for each metallic component in a measured area from the XRF signals, and then calculating an areal coating quantity of the first and the second layers using the quantity values of the metallic components. Additionally or alternatively, the methods can include determining a batch specific code from the XRF signals that can be used when performing a test with a test element. Further provided are systems for monitoring a property of disposable test elements.

The invention relates to a method and a device for determining the glucose concentration in tissue fluid whereby test values for glucose and for an endogenous reference substance are detected in a sample liquid obtained by microdialysis, microperfusion or ultrafiltration, and the glucose value is corrected in accordance with the test value for the reference substance. The recovery rate for glucose is determined from a non-linear relationship with the recovery rate for the ionic reference substance, and the test value for glucose is corrected therewith. In addition, the concentration of lactate and/or pyruvate is used as a further reference substance in the sample liquid to make further corrections.

Glucose analysis instrument for diabetics, comprising a measuring device for determining glucose concentration values, a displaying device for displaying glucose concentration values, a signaling device for generating a reminder signal, and a control and evaluation device that comprises a processor and a data memory and is used to determine reminder times at which the signaling device is actuated. Event data are stored in the data memory, the event data containing information on events occurring in the life of a user of the glucose analysis instrument and on the time of occurrence of such events. The reminder times are determined by means of a reminder time determination algorithm taking into consideration event data from at least one previous day.
