A valve for bringing gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber of gas engines is provided with a solenoid valve ( ) controlling fuel delivery ( ) and an adjoining poppet valve ( ), which closes biased by the force of a spring, and which opens in the direction of the combustion chamber through the pressure of in-flowing gas. For the purpose of keeping the poppet valve ( ) open, independent from the pressure conditions at its valve head ( ), the valve's stem ( ) is connected to a step piston ( ) whose topside and bottom side are biased by the fuel pressure existing between the solenoid valve ( ) and the valve head ( ) and whose step area ( ) is in communication with the fuel delivery line ( ), on one side, and with the space ( ) between the step piston ( ) and the valve head ( ), on the other side, whereby the passageways ( ) are opened and closed by means of a respective switching member ( ) corresponding to the movement of the step piston ( ). The poppet valve ( ) is thereby kept in a closed position, assisted by pressure, after the end of the gaseous fuel injection.

Valve

The valve includes a valve seat ( ) having passage channels ( ) for the controlled medium which are arranged essentially in a ring-shape and concentrically, of a catcher ( ) having flow-off channels ( ), a valve plate ( ) that is movably arranged, in particular it is movable back and forth, between the catcher ( ) and the valve seat ( ), having several individual ring plates ( ) that are allocated to the passage channels of the valve seat ( ), and a support plate ( ) that is spring-loaded by the catcher ( ) and rests on the ring plates ( ). To allow for the guiding of each single ring plate ( ) in the direction of lift with simple, joint springs, the support plate ( ) includes individual, concentrically arranged support rings ( &prime;) that overlap respectively two ring plates ( ), which are guided on the guiding extensions ( ) of the catcher ( ) in the direction of lift, and the guiding extensions ( ) are arranged on the radial cross-pieces ( ) of the catcher ( ), respectively in the areas of the outer and inner circumferences of the support rings ( &prime;), and protrude in the direction of the valve seat ( ) to such an extent that the respectively adjacent ring plate ( ) is also guided on it across the entire lift.
