A fire detector has at least two sensor units for monitoring a confined space for the occurrence of a fire. A first fire parameter is monitored according to the scattered light method, using a first sensor unit located at or in the vicinity of the ceiling. At least one second sensor unit of the fire detector, which emits at least two highly focused light beams towards the floor of the confined space, monitors a second fire parameter according to the extinction method.

Combined scattered-light and extinction-based fire detector

A method for differentiating between a fire and the manipulation of a fire detector. The fire detector has at least two sensor units, each of which contains a light source and a light collector. A cover plate is formed with at least two light exit and entry windows. The device is used to monitor at least one fire parameter in the area surrounding the fire detector according to a scattered light method. The respective light entry and exit windows on the cover plate are connected to an optical fiber element in such a way that light from the light source of one sensor unit is guided to and captured by the light collector of the other sensor unit.

Manipulation protection for a fire detector

The detector contains a structure-borne sound microphone connected to an electronic evaluation unit with a piezoelectric sensor (18) for structure-borne sound vibrations. This sensor has a vibrating bar (28), which is attached by means of hybrid technology to a carrier (27). The vibrating bar (28) is formed by a bimorph element and the carrier by an electrically conductive ceramic wafer.
