A cartridge case for ammunition may include a rotationally shaped case jacket for receiving a projectile and an annular base piece for receiving a primer and the case jacket. An annular wall of the base piece on the side of the case jacket is conically shaped at least in sections with respect to its axis of rotation. A retaining section of the case jacket on the side of the base piece is adapted in shape thereto so that the retaining section engages at least in sections behind the annular wall for fastening the case jacket and the base piece to one another. A distancing of the base piece and case jacket from each other may be prevented in the direction of the axis of rotation. The conical annular wall and the retaining section may be formed by plastic deformation of the base piece.

A cartridge case for centerfire ammunition may include a rotationally shaped casing sleeve for receiving a projectile as well as propellant charge powder, and a separate rotationally shaped bottom piece which is attached to the casing sleeve and has a closed ignition surface to be faced towards a firing pin for ignition of the centerfire ammunition. The closed ignition surface delimits, on the firing pin side, a receiving chamber for an ignition charge. The casing sleeve may have or support an anvil extending in the direction of the ignition surface into the receiving chamber. The ammunition may have a caliber in the range from, for example, 4.6 to 12.7.

Tracer ammunition for tracking the trajectory and/or the impact of projectiles in the target generally contains pyrotechnics. These pyrotechnics demonstrate various disadvantages, wherein the most serious is the continued burning of the pyrotechnics, even after penetration of the projectile in the target. This causes an increased risk of fire and acute injuries. A mixture of light metal and a carbon-containing substrate, ignites during firing of a projectile and burns during its flight by means of air oxygen introduced into the combustion chamber by way of tear-off edges, and produces a tracer that extinguishes in the target.

A fragmentation projectile in one aspect has a frontal cavity and defined fragments of medium to high density. The fragments are nearly form fitting together to form a compact projectile until its impact on the target. To achieve these specific mechanical properties, Additive Manufacturing (AM) methods are applied.

A small-bore projectile comprises a ductile outer jacket, a hard core, and a hollow jacket core. Kinetic energy of the projectile is substantially transmitted to the hard core when a target is hit such that said hard core penetrates the target. The outer jacket is supported by the jacket core that is located on the inside and mushrooms up into a deformed state upon impact without fragmenting. The projectile has good flying behavior and great final ballistic performance and can be produced in an entirely lead-free manner.
