A suction head for a feeder of a sheet-fed rotary printing press for feeding sheets of small format through the press in a given direction, including only one double sucker formed of two juxtaposed suction nozzles connected by a transverse tube and being disposed transversely to the feeding direction of the sheets, the only one double sucker being exchangeably secured at a center location of the printing press.

A feeder in a paper sheet processing machine has a plurality of lifting suckers for lifting a paper sheet from a stack of paper sheets. After the sheet is lifted into a raised position it is entrained by a transport device and transported to a paper sheet processing unit. A force potential acts permanently on the lifting sucker downwardly in a direction towards the stack. The lifting sucker is lifted against the force potential in a cyclically controlled manner in a lifting and lowering stroke. A retaining collar is formed on the lifting sucker beneath which a retaining support engages so as to delay a return of the lifting sucker to its lower position and to stop the sucker in the lower position. The retaining support is mounted shiftably parallel to the stroke direction of the lifting sucker. Controlled pneumatics communicate with the retaining structure, so as to shift the same as a function of the stroke position of the lifting sucker.

Suction head includes a vertically adjustable lifting suction device having a respective guiding element, and an axially displaceable, telescopically guided suction chamber arranged on the guiding element, the suction chamber having at least two suction nozzles disposed adjacent one another transversely to a direction in which sheets are conveyed, the suction nozzles being united into a double suction chamber so as to form a narrowly defined vacuum chamber.

A sheet-guiding foil as a sheath for an impression cylinder in rotary offset perfecting presses, one surface of the foil being smooth while the opposite surface thereof is formed with spherical calottes of equal height and of statistically uniform distribution, including a chemically resistant, wear-resistant and rigid backing layer with good ink transfer behavior and a textured surface, and a thin chromium layer applied thereto for evening out microroughness, and the method of production.
