The disclosed mechanical cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) apparatuses, systems, and devices have a plunger and a plunger displace sensor that can sense plunger displacement information during reciprocating cycles of the plunger. The disclosure CPR apparatuses, systems, and devices also have a microprocessor unit that can receive sensed plunger displacement information from the sensor and generate plunger driving instructions based on the plunger displacement information. The plunger driving instructions have one or both of a plunger driving force and a plunger amplitude for the reciprocating cycles.

An embodiment of the support structure includes a back plate, a central part adapted to recite an automatic compression/decompression unit, and a front includes two legs coupled between the central part and the back plate. The apparatus includes a frame enclosing the patient at a sternal transversal plane and a pneumatic compression/decompression unit mounted on the frame. The device includes a flexible strap having a first end, a second end and a tensioning component disposed between the first and second ends. First and second end portions of the strap include a mechanism for attachment to the apparatus. The flexible strap has a mounted tensioned length sufficient to extend around the patient's neck. At least one of the end portions is releasably attached.
