A composition that binds to an anti-CD38 antibody includes a specific sequence of a recombinant soluble form of an extracellular domain of CD38 and/or a fragment thereof that interferes with binding activity of the anti-CD38 antibody. The composition can be included in a kit for bio-monitoring research and diagnostic assays. The composition can be used to neutralize an anti-CD38 antibody in a sample and/or to select a suitable red blood cell unit for a patient treated with anti-CD38 antibodies.

The invention relates to a device for determining a cellular-bound analyte in a liquid sample, comprising a separation matrix with at least one indicator zone. The invention is characterized in that the indicator zone comprises a first antibody directed against the cellular-bound analyte or a fragment thereof and a binding element directed against the first antibody, the first antibody being an incomplete antibody. The separation matrix is preferably designed in the form of the membrane of a lateral flow assay device or as a gel matrix. In a particularly preferable manner, the device comprises a membrane () with a charging zone () for applying the liquid sample, at least one indicator zone which can interact with the cellular-bound analyte, and at least one absorption region () which absorbs the liquid after passing the indicator zone. The indicator zone lies between the charging zone () and the absorption region (). The invention is characterized in that the indicator zone comprises an antibody directed against the cellular-bound analyte or a fragment thereof and a binding element directed against the first antibody, the first antibody being an incomplete antibody.

The invention relates to a method for determining one or more cellularly bound analytes in a liquid sample, said method being carried out using a device comprising: at least one feeding zone () for applying the liquid sample; a porous membrane () that is suitable for letting cellular components penetrate therethrough and includes at least one indicator zone on the membrane, said indicator zone being able to interact with the cellularly bound analyte and containing at least one binding element against the cellularly bound analyte; and at least one absorption area () on the membrane, which absorbs the liquid after the liquid has passed the indicator zones. The at least one indicator zone lies between the feeding zone () and the absorption area (). The invention relates to a device for simultaneously, qualitatively or quantitatively identifying a number of analytes in a liquid sample. The device comprises a membrane with: a charging zone for applying the liquid sample; at least two indicator zones, which can interact with the analytes, and at least one absorption area, which absorbs the liquid after passing the indicator zones, whereby the indicator zones are located between the charging zone and an absorption area. The invention is characterized in that the flowing directions from the charging zone through the respective indicator zones to an absorption area (flow paths) are essentially parallel, and at least two different flow paths exist. The invention also relates to a method for identifying a number of analytes or the derivatives thereof in a liquid sample. Device for simultaneously carrying out blood group determination, serum cross-check and antibody detection test

Described is a method and reagent kit for the detection of an analyte in a sample liquid by agglutination, wherein the sample liquid is contacted with an agglutination reagent in a reaction vessel that contains an inert matrix to form a reaction mixture that is then subjected to centrifugation. The reaction between the analyte and the agglutination reagent is determined based upon the penetration of the agglutination reagent into the inert matrix. The agglutination reagent includes synthetic particles having an average diameter and specific density chosen such that the particles' sedimentation behavior towards the matrix is essentially the same as that of erythrocytes under the same centrifugal conditions. Preferably, the surfaces of the synthetic particles have ligand molecules immobilized thereon for binding to the analyte.
