The described system and method provide for an encryption and authentication technique that achieves enhanced integrity verification through assured error-propagation using a multistage sequence of pseudorandom permutations. The method generates intermediate data-dependent cryptographic variables at each stage, which are systematically combined into feedback loops. The encryption technique also generates an authentication tag with minimal post processing that is the size of the state. The size of the state is dependent on the number of pseudorandom permutations and the size of the LFSR. The authentication tag provides a unique mapping to the plaintext for any number of plaintext blocks that is less than or equal the size of the state. In addition to being a stand alone encryption algorithm, the disclosed technique is applicable to any mode that uses pseudorandom permutations such as, key dependent lookup tables, S-Boxes, and block ciphers such as RC5, TEA, and AES.

Hybrid mode cryptographic method and system with message authentication

The present invention generates intermediate data-dependent cryptographic variables at each stage, which are systematically combined into feedback loops. The encryption technique also generates an authentication tag without any further steps that is N times longer than the block size where N is the number of pseudorandom permutations used in the encipherment of each block. The authentication tag provides a unique mapping to the plaintext for any number of plaintext blocks that is less than or equal to N. In addition to being a stand alone encryption algorithm, the disclosed technique is applicable to any mode that uses pseudorandom permutations such as, key dependent lookup tables, S-Boxes, and block ciphers such as RC5, TEA, and AES.

Encrypting a plaintext message with authentication

A self-destruct accessory fits on a mine whose case has a cap that can be depressed to detonate the mine. The accessory has a cover that is sized to fit on the cap. The cover has a plurality of lines for securing the cover to the mine. An explosive charge is mounted upon the cover and a detonator is located adjacent to the explosive charge. A remotely controllable device coupled to the detonator can receive a detonation signal from a remote location to detonate the explosive charge and explosively depress the cap in order to detonate and destroy the mine.

Accessory and method for destroying a mine

A mine has the ability to change from an armed state to a safe state without touching of the mine. The mine includes a case and an explosive charge in the case. Also included is a detonator located adjacent to the explosive charge. The firing of the detonator can set off an explosive chain for exploding the explosive charge. A movable firing pin in the case can strike and fire the detonator in response to pressure directed toward the case. The mine also includes a blocking member adapted to move from a retracted position to a blocking position between the detonator and the firing pin in order to prevent firing of the detonator by the firing pin. Also included is a driver for moving the blocking member from the retracted position to the blocking position without manual touching of the case.

Mine alterable from an armed state to a safe state

A portable electronic data module for secure transactions, the electronic data module having a random number generator and an optimized co-processor for producing unbreakable key sets for a two-key cryptosystem. A real-time clock is sampled depending upon an external random event series such as power-ups of the data module by a host apparatus, and based upon the contents of the sample thus obtained, the entropy of a previously-loaded accumulator is further enhanced to achieve a pool of true random numbers. By repeatedly requesting random bytes of information from said pool of random numbers, large random numbers are created which are then rendered prime and used for key set creation.
