Compositions and methods are disclosed for reducing combustion chamber deposits (CCD) and/or intake valve deposits (IVD) in spark ignition internal combustion engines. A succinic acid derivative (SAD) of this invention or a mixture with at least one additional component of this invention is added to a liquid hydrocarbon or liquid hydrocarbon-oxygenate gasoline each in an amount of about 0.0005&#x2013;0.5 wt % of the gasoline. Preferably the gasoline is unleaded. The preferred additional components include polyethers (PE), polyolefin butyrolactam derivatives (BLD), butyrolactam alkoxylates (BLA), tridecanol alkoxylate derivatives (TAD) and polyisobutylene amine (PIBA).

Gasoline additives for reducing the amount of internal combustion engine intake valve deposits and combustion chamber deposits

Compositions and methods are disclosed for reducing combustion chamber deposits (CCD) and/or intake valve deposits (IVD) in spark ignition internal combustion engines. A butyrolactam alkoxylate (BLA) and/or a butyrolactam derivative (BLD) of this invention or a mixture with at least one additional compound of this invention is added to a liquid hydrocarbon or liquid hydrocarbon-oxygenate gasoline each in an amount of about 0.0005-0.5 wt % of the gasoline. Preferably the gasoline is unleaded. The preferred additional components include polyethers (PE) and polyisobutylene amine (PIBA).

The invention relates to a method for cleaning crude terephthalic acid by means of catalytic, hydrogenating aftertreatment using a catalyst material containing at least one hydrogenation metal applied to a carbon carrier consisting of carbon fibres. The invention also relates to a catalyst consisting of the at least one catalyst material containing the at least one hydrogenation metal applied to the carbon fibres, the BET surface of the carbon carrier being &#x3c;500 m/g, and a monolithic catalyst consisting of said at least one catalyst material containing the at least one hydrogenation material applied to the carbon fibres, and at least one support element or skeleton element which differs from the catalyst material and is connected to the same, said element mechanically supporting the catalyst material and maintaining the same in a monolithic form. The invention further relates to a method for producing the monolithic catalyst and the use thereof, a reactor containing a plane catalyst material in the form of woven fabric, knitted fabric and/or felt, the use of the same and a method for the selective hydrogenation of carbon-carbon double or triple bonds and/or hydrogenable functional groups in organic compounds containing the same.

A process for the selective hydrogenation of butadiene to butenes in the liquid phase or trickle phase in contact with a fixed-bed supported noble metal catalyst, wherein a high-butadiene C.sub.4 stream having a butadiene content of from 20 to 80% w/w, based on the weight of the C.sub.4 stream, is hydrogenated in a cascade of two reaction zones such that the hydrogenation product from the first reaction zone has a butadiene content of from 0.1 to 20% w/w and the hydrogenation product from the second reaction zone has a butadiene content of from 0.005 to 1% w/w, based in both cases on the weight of the C.sub.4 stream, provided that the butadiene content of the hydrogenation product from the second reaction zone is at least 5 times smaller than that of the hydrogenation product from the first reaction zone.
