A transport aid is disclosed wherein the article to be transported is lightened by a constant hoisting power. The invention can be used to transport articles which are sensitive to shock and too heavy for manual transport, such as large TV-picture tubes.

Heretofore, the tube neck, the seal edge extending along the largest circumference of the funnel section, and reference pads located at or near the seal edge have been aligned relative to each other. It is proposed to align the seal edge, the reference pads, and the tube neck in relation to the longitudinal axis of a 'transition section' (portion between neck-funnel seal and position of deflection on the funnel yoke) in such a way that the axis perpendicular to the plane bounded by the seal edge and the reference pads, the longitudinal axis of the neck coincide with the longitudinal axis of the 'transition section'.

Arrangement for making color-picture tubes screens consisting of a faceplate panel and an associated shadow mask by applying phosphor layers to the faceplate using photographic techniques, at which devices for applying, exposing, and developing photosensitive layers are provided. To reduce the handwork without obtaining an assembly-line-like automatic arrangement with interdependent devices, the devices for exposing the screen are united with devices for inserting the shadow mask into, and removing it from, the faceplate to form an automatically operating subarrangement which is independent of the remainder of the arrangement.

To optimize the manufacture of color-picture tubes, automation of the repeated insertion of the shadow mask into the faceplate is desired, but difficulties are encountered because of the undefined positions of the connection members (faceplate studs and shadow mask leaf springs). To solve the problem, a device is disclosed which acts on the connecting members and brings them to a defined position relative to the device to permit automatic engagement of the connecting members.

The invention relates to a method of aluminizing the inside of the panel of a television picture tube. When aluminizing the inside of the panel, blisters caused by the vaporizing lacquer, are likely to develop in the layer of aluminum, especially on the side walls of the panel portion. When taking care in accordance with the invention, that the coat of lacquer is roughened prior to the performance of the aluminizing process, these blisters are avoided.
