The disclosure relates to a switching element comprising an external part and an internal part, which is axially displaceable in a bore of the external part. At least one radially displaceable locking element is disposed within at least one receptacle of the internal part and includes a flattened portion on a radially outwardly directed end. At least one recess of the external part can be acted upon by a control pressure and the at least one locking element can thereby be radially displaced from the locking position into a release position. At least in a respective locking position, a chamber delimited by the at least one locking element is spatially separated from the at least one recess of the external part by a respective locking section. At least one bypass is designed, which indirectly fluidly connects the at least one recess of the external part and a respective chamber.

Switching element for a valve train of an internal combustion engine

This disclosure relates to a hydraulic support element for a switchable rocker arm of a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The hydraulic support element includes a cup-shaped cylinder, within which a hollow piston is arranged in an axially displaceable manner. The piston includes a filter cartridge which is in the form of a hollow body and can be charged from the outside with pressurized oil and an interior space of which is connected to an outlet opening of the contact head. An interior space of the piston has two pressurized oil chambers, including a first pressurized oil chamber above the piston head and connected to a first pressurized oil feed, and a second pressurized oil chamber formed under the contact head and connected to a second pressurized oil feed. The filter cartridge is tubular and located in the second pressurized oil chamber.

Hydraulic support element

A hydraulic tappet configured for a valve train of an internal combustion engine is provided. The tappet includes an outer housing, a socket plunger, and a hydraulic lash adjuster assembly. The socket plunger and the hydraulic lash adjuster assembly are disposed within the outer housing. The hydraulic lash adjuster assembly includes an outer casing, a piston, and a check valve assembly. The outer casing is configured with a spherical first end. The hydraulic lash adjuster assembly can include a swivel pad that engages the spherical first end. The piston is at least partially received by an opening in the outer casing. The piston and socket plunger define a first fluid chamber, while the piston and outer casing define a second fluid chamber. The check valve assembly is arranged to fluidly connect the first fluid chamber to the second fluid chamber.

Tappet

A double-flow hydraulic support element for a switchable finger lever of a valve train of an internal combustion engine is provided. A piston is arranged in an axial bore of the housing of the support element in an axially movable manner, and the piston includes a hollow cylindrical pressure part and a cup-shaped working part. A head of the pressure part is used as a support for the finger lever and projects beyond the housing edge, and an opening for the flow of a hydraulic medium is formed in the end face of the head. The housing has a first passage and a second passage axially spaced from the first passage for the hydraulic medium. The support element has a hydraulic play compensation device with a ball non-return valve for the finger lever. In order to achieve an optimal actuation of the coupling element, a sleeve which is closed on one side is inserted into the pressing part; the closed end of the sleeve reaches the region of an outer annular groove in a sealing manner below the dome-shaped head of the pressing part; a storage space for supplying the play compensation device with the hydraulic medium is formed radially within and axially outside of the sleeve, in the pressure part, and in the working part of the piston; the storage space is connected to the first passage in the housing via a passage opening in the working part; an actuation space formed between the sleeve and the pressure part of the piston for hydraulically supplying the coupling device is connected to the second passage in the housing via a radial passage opening in the pressure part; and the volume of the storage space is substantially greater than the volume of the actuation space.

Support element

A clip for securing a support element to a drag lever in a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The clip includes a first spring limb including an aperture configured to receive a support element of the valve train, a second spring limb including a concave pocket that includes a first bore configured to transmit lubrication oil from a channel of the support element through the second spring limb, and a bracket member connecting the first and second spring limbs.

Component of a valve drive of an internal combustion engine

A switching hydraulic fluid gallery de-aeration arrangement for a switchable valve arrangement is disclosed. A housing for a hydraulic lash adjuster assembly is positioned in a bore of a cylinder head. The housing includes a first, hydraulic lash adjuster fluid port in a first annular groove, and a second switching hydraulic fluid port in a second annular groove. A top land and a bottom land are positioned next to the annular grooves and each have a primary outer diameter. A middle land is defined axially between the grooves. The middle land has a reduced outer diameter relative to the primary outer diameter, or the bore has an annular groove between the top and bottom lands that defines a restricted flow path between a hydraulic lash adjuster fluid gallery and a switching hydraulic fluid gallery that maintains hydraulic fluid in the switching hydraulic fluid gallery.

Dual feed hydraulic lash adjuster with integrated de-aeration restriction

In a hydraulic compensation element for the valve train of an internal combustion engine, with a circular cylindrical housing () that has, in its bore (), an axially movable pressure piston () with a reservoir () for oil as a hydraulic medium, a sleeve-like deflection element for oil is arranged in the interior of the pressure piston (). The oil can be introduced through a radial feed hole of the housing (), a rising channel (), and an end-side opening () of the deflection element into the reservoir () of the pressure piston (). The deflection element is constructed as a circular cylindrical inner sleeve () that has, on one axial end, an oversize dimension relative to the inner diameter of the pressure piston (), and the inner sleeve () is fixed in the pressure piston () with a positive and non-positive fit connection.

A tappet () for a reciprocating-piston combustion engine, which is situated within a tappet guide of a component fixedly attached to the engine, and having a bearing-mounted roller () guided on a pin (), which roller is in active contact with a cam or an eccentric of a shaft of the reciprocating-piston combustion engine. The casing surface of the cam or eccentric is implemented axially parallel to the shaft and the roller () is guided so as to oscillate on the pin ().

Switchable support element

A cam follower for a valve train of an internal combustion engine, the cam follower being formed as a lever, which is U-shaped in cross-section, and produced from steel sheet without machining, and which has a floor wall () and lateral walls (and) extending therefrom, wherein a valve stem support () is disposed as a groove () at one end of the lever in a surface of the floor wall () facing away from the lateral walls (and). Lateral guide walls (and) of the valve stem support () are formed by chipless shaping so as to extend from and counter to the lateral walls (and) and are connected to a support wall () that forms a valve stem support surface (). The valve stem support surface () extends in a first plane (), which is spaced from a second plane (), which extends through an internal transition () between the lateral walls (and) and the adjacent guide walls (and), in the direction of ends () of the lateral walls (and). In order to reduce stress and resulting cracks, an inner radius R is provided at the transition (and), by which radius a free space () is created between the lateral wall () and the guide wall (), which free space narrows towards the end () of the respective lateral wall ().

Cam follower for a valve train of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a hydraulic support element for valve drive of a combustion engine, with a pot cylindrical casing and a hollow cylindrical piston guided axially movably therein, the inner end of which is supported via a spring on the bottom wall of the casing, whose outer end projects past the outer margin of the casing and is formed as a hemispherical bearing head, and whose inner space is subdivided by means of a partition element into an axially inner supply-pressure space and an axially outer switching-pressure space.

A cam follower for actuating at least one gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine is provided, including a cam contact roller that is supported by a plain bearing on a pin (). A first sliding surface of the plain bearing faces the cam contact roller and a second sliding surface of the plain bearing faces the pin. The plain bearing has a lubricant reservoir, in order to provide at least one of the sliding surfaces of the plain bearing with lubricant, and the lubricant reservoir is arranged at a distance from the end sides of the plain bearing.

Cam follower

A valve drive of an internal combustion engine, having a finger lever which acts at one end on a gas exchange valve and which is seated at the other end on a head of a housing of a support element, which housing runs in an axially movable manner in a reception bore of a cylinder head, the finger lever is acted on by a cam from the base circle from which there projects in a fixed manner an additional cam piece for generating an additional lift of the gas exchange valve, a bore extends from a bottom of the housing in the direction of the head, in the lower portion of which bore there runs a pressure piston which is axially movable relative to the housing and via the lower face of which the support element is mounted on a base of the reception bore of the cylinder head, a high-pressure chamber for hydraulic medium is formed between an upper face of the pressure piston and a ring part situated above said upper face and which is fixed with respect to the housing, and to generate the additional lift, the high-pressure chamber is flooded with hydraulic medium such that the housing is deployed relative to the pressure piston, supported on the hydraulic medium column accumulated in the high-pressure chamber, and to deactivate the additional stoke, the hydraulic medium in the high-pressure chamber is discharged such that the housing is retracted.

Valve drive with additional lift in the cam base circle

An internal combustion piston engine based on a four-stroke process, including a crankcase in which at least one cylinder/piston assembly is arranged, the piston being guided by a connecting rod connected to a crankshaft. At least one cylinder head closes the cylinder, each of whose intake and exhaust channels are controlled by at least one intake valve and one exhaust valve (). The intake and exhaust valves () are actuable by a rocker arm () or a finger lever driven by a camshaft () through intake and exhaust cams (). The rocker arms or finger levers are guided on at least one axle (). A brake control device is provided which includes, in the region of the base circle of the exhaust cam (), at least one additional cam () for an additional opening of at least one of the exhaust valves (). The control element (2) is arranged in a bridge () that is associated with a plurality of exhaust valves ().

In a switching element () for a valve train of an internal combustion engine for switching to different valve lifts, said switching element () comprising an outer element () having an inner element () arranged for axial displacement therein, each of the outer and the inner element () comprising a reception () aligned to each other in a relative position, at least one piston () being arranged in at least one of the receptions () for sliding toward the other of the receptions () to couple the inner element () to the outer element () in said relative position, and a high-position stop for defining said relative position being arranged between the inner and the outer element (), at least one part of the high-position stop is configured as an adjustable, separate element (). This element () cooperates through a preferably conical section () of its outer periphery with a complementary chamfer () on one end () of a guide () in the outer element (). By these extremely simple fabrication measures, an aligned adjustment of the receptions () is created for effecting coupling.
