Apparatus and methods for attaching wall panels to support structures are disclosed. In one embodiment, an aircraft includes a support structure and a wall assembly coupled to the support structure. The wall assembly includes a first member and a second member. The first member is coupled to the support structure and has a first elongated coupling member. The second member has a head portion and a base portion. The head portion has at least one slot disposed therein that is adapted to receive an edge portion of the panel. The base portion includes a second elongated coupling member that is adapted to be coupled to the first elongated coupling member.

Attaching panels to support structures in an aircraft

An architectural archway for an aircraft. The archways can be positioned individually, or in pairs or other sets along the length of an aircraft fuselage. The archways are used to run or connect various transport elements, such as electrical wiring, water lines, and environmental control system conduits, between the upper crown, lower bay and passenger cabin of the aircraft. The invention simplifies installation complexity and eliminates the installation and variability associated with running transport elements between the various sections of the aircraft.

A window for a subsonic passenger aircraft that provide maximum optical visibility while minimizing the amount of exterior acoustic noise transmitted through the windows to the passenger cabin during flight of the aircraft includes at least one substantially transparent window pane having the shape of an ellipse. The ellipse has a major axis and a minor axis, and the major axis is about twice as long as the minor axis and is disposed generally perpendicular to the direction of flight of the aircraft. In one exemplary embodiment, the window has a height of about 20 inches and a transparent area of about 141 square inches, and includes a pair of substantially similar window panes disposed in a parallel, spaced-apart relationship circumscribed by a mounting bezel. A plurality of the windows are each mounted with the bezels in spaced-apart rows in each of the opposite sidewalls of the aircraft fuselage.

The first member is coupled to the support structure and has a first elongated coupling member. The second member has a head portion and a base portion. The head portion has at least one slot disposed therein that is adapted to receive an edge portion of the panel. The base portion includes a second elongated coupling member that is adapted to be coupled to the first elongated coupling member.

Apparatus and methods of attaching panels to support structures

A programmable and alternately configurable lighting fixture including a light emitting diode array adapted to affixed within a fixture housing. The lighting fixture includes a controller that is adapted to selectively power the plurality of light emitting diodes to provide two or more light beam patterns, each of the two or more light beam patterns selectively directable to two or more distinct lighting areas. The controller and the plurality of light emitting diodes are conductively connected to a power supply. The controller is programmable such that the lighting fixture is adaptable to various seating and lighting configurations, for instance a two seat/two beam configuration, a three seat/three beam configuration or a four seat/four beam configuration. Interchangeable lens assemblies are configured to appropriately direct and focus the selected number of lighting beams to the selected and distinct lighting areas.

Architectural archway structures for aircraft. The archway structure can be positioned individually, or in pairs or other sets along the length of the interior of an aircraft, such as a commercial passenger airplane. The archways extend across the ceiling of the interior of the cabin and extend downwardly to a point adjacent the luggage bins. End caps are provided to conform the end of the archways with the interior luggage bins. The invention provides a unique 'look and feel' and architectural configuration, and does not result in seat loss.

An apparatus and method for lining a cargo hold, and an aircraft cargo hold so lined are provided. A plurality of liner panels have formed edges angling away from facing sides of the liner panels. A mounting channel mounted on a supporting structure has an opening for receiving the angled edges of the liner panels. The edges of the liner panels are inserted into the mounting channel. The liner panels are secured by a spline configured to forcibly lock the liner panels into the mounting channel when the spline is pressed against the angled edges of the cargo liner sections and into the mounting channel.

Efficient cargo liner installation

A reconfigurable interior sidewall system includes one or more simply curved sidewall panels, each curved around the fuselage but longitudinally linear and providing a consistent mating surface for monuments. Panel openings are provided in each panel so that inner window assemblies may be installed for opposing structural windows, each inner window assembly having outward sculpturing for additional cabin room. A cover plate is also provided for flush insertion into the opening to fill the opening when it is not needed and to provide a constant profile for cabin monuments whenever the layout of the cabin changes. This results in the production of fewer parts as well as facilitating faster and less expensive interior reconfigurations.
