The picking device in projectile looms has guide teeth (1) having narrowing zones (20, 20') adapted to receive lubricant transferred from the projectiles (100) to the guide teeth. Because of these narrowing zones and given appropriate shaping no lubricant reaches the guide teeth side surfaces which contact the warp yarns. Soiling of the cloth by lubricant can therefore be obviated. Also, adequate lubrication can be provided so that there is no soiling due to material released by abrasion between the projectile and the guide teeth.

Picking device in projectile looms

A weft yarn changer on a projectile loom has a pivoted changer member (1) for at least two yarn transfer elements (2) each in the form of a slide rod (2a) and a yarn gripper (21). Slide bars for the yarn transfer elements (2) are provided on the changer member (1) and are connected by at least one lightweight plastics holder to a tube effective as a drive shaft of the changer member or as a pivot spindle. The inventive weft yarn changer yields reduced actuation times.

Gripper changer for projectile looms

A weft yarn changer on a projectile loom has a pivoted changer member (1) for at least two yarn transfer elements (2) each in the form of a slide rod (2a) and a yarn gripper (21). The slide rod (2a) is made of plastic and is longer radially than tangentially in the pivoting direction relative to the pivoting axis. A duct (24) oriented in the sliding direction forms a cavity which is particularly suitable as a yarn guide. The inventive yarn changer has short actuation times.

The weft yarn changer includes a multi-pivot transmission which is driven by a thrust rod. In addition, the thrust rod is driven by a rocking lever which can be coupled and uncoupled from the thrust rod by an actuating element in the form of a double-acting solenoid. When a weft change is to the effected, the solenoid actuates a tappet to deflect the thrust rod laterally so that a pin on the rocking lever engages in a bore of the thrust rod in order to couple the thrust rod to the rocking lever for a subsequent actuating motion.

Weft yarn changer for a loom

To improve performance and to overcome dangerous problems of overheating in projectile looms, the loom brake has a cooler for dissipating the heat of braking and for reducing local temperature peaks. A coolant is guided in a flow into the vicinity of the braking surfaces. Appropriate cooling facilities can have air nozzles aimed at the braking surface, a liquid circuit supplying coolant to ducts within the brake shoes or tubes in heat-conductive contact with the brake shoes or heat pipes.

Projectile-catching brake for a loom

The projectile-catching brake employs at least one resilient brake shoe which is made of metal for use with plastic projectiles. Where used with steel projectiles, the brake shoe may be provided with an insert of plastic material which can be replaced from time-to-time. In some embodiments, the resilient brake shoe is formed of a hollow section member to define a cavity through which air or other coolant may flow. In still other embodiments, bent stampings are used to form the brake shoes. A brake shoe body of metal may also be mounted by spaced apart resilient plastic strips.

The projectile guide employs support teeth which have horizontally disposed support surfaces for slidably receiving and supporting a picked projectile thereon. In addition, alternately arranged guide teeth are provided to define a picking tunnel while also providing a lateral guide on one side of the horizontal support surfaces to prevent sliding off of a projectile thereat. A lateral guide surface may also be provided on the support teeth on one side of the support surface to prevent lateral movement from an opposite side of the support surface.

Projectile guide for a weaving machine

The guide device for the picking element of the weaving machine is formed with guide teeth each of which has a flexible zone which permits a positional adjustment of the guide and support member and guide hook relative to one another. During production of the guide device, the guide and support member and guide hook of each tooth are pressed against a gauge rod by a pressing device and thereafter potted in resin which forms a block. The presence of the gauge rod ensures a precisely tubular guide channel so that the path for a picking element is very regular.

Guide device for a weft picking element and a method of making same

The weaving machine is provided with a slot nozzle for generating a vertical air curtain to remove fly, lint and the like from a travelling weft thread prior to entering into a shed. In addition, a cover plate is provided between the nozzle and the thread shear to limit the air curtain from the shed.

Device for cleaning the weft insertion area of a weaving machine

The pattern mechanism for controlling the shogging of guide bars or guide belts includes tension elements which are actuated by final control elements in accordance with a pattern. In order to save space without entangling the groups of tension elements, these tension elements are guided on guide pulleys which are disposed in groups of three. In addition, the pulleys of each group are disposed in overlapping relation to each other.

Patterning device for a warp knitting machine

The laying-in comb for a warp knitting machine has sinkers wherein the top edges are longitudinally offset relative to the bottom edges so as to impart rigidity to the sinkers. The amount of offset decreases from the securing end of the sinkers towards the head end of the sinkers. The sinkers may be permanently deformed by being cast into a mounting block or may be placed under tension by means of separate blocks which are movable relative to each other. The blocks may also be mounted on bars which are programmed in accordance with a suitable pattern.

Laying-in comb for warp knitting machines

A patterning device employs an elongated strip which is fixed between an operating element, such as a guide bar of a warp knitting machine, and a fixed support point. In addition, the patterning device has a displacing element in the form of a rotatable eccentric or a reciprocally mounted roller which is used to deflect the strip between two points intermediately of the length of the strip so as to exert a pulling force on the guide bar. The amount of deflection of the strip determines the amount of movement of the guide bar. The guide bar can be returned by way of a spring or by a second strip which is deflected in similar manner as the first strip by a displacing element. In one embodiment, a single displacing element is used for deflecting purposes while in other embodiments, a multiplicity of displacing elements are used. The strips may be attached directly to the guide bar or indirectly, for example, over a pivotally mounted lever.
